Accumulator Delete Disk (ADD)





All Manual Transmission owners, if you don't know the benefits of disabling the clutch accumulator I suggest you read this thread.

To disable the accumulator quickly, easily, and without hacking up your accumulator body or having visible modifications, I have machined out a disk that disables the function of the accumulator.

These are available on ebay at https://www.ebay.com/itm/155774983034 for $30 with free shipping. These are hand machined by myself out of brass on a vintage Craftsman (Atlas) lathe.

To install you simply remove the accumulator from the truck and then from the bracket, remove the factory disk and spacer, place the Accumulator Delete Disk (ADD) in their place (ensuring the o-ring is still seated properly), and reassemble. Bleed out the air and enjoy your now silky smooth clutch.

I will also suggest that anyone who drives in colder climates refill with a low viscosity brake fluid, such as Pentosin Dot-4 LV.


Thanks to the generosity of this forum I was able to confirm that the ADD also works on the 2nd gen, which shares the accumulator with the FJ and 4.0L Tundra. Please see "What this fits" at parts.toyota.com (and here for the 3rd gen) to ensure fitment in your vehicle.

I'm fine with that but my order of 1 was to tinker with my own personal take-off accumulator so it qualifies as "personal use" and therefore doesn't really need nor does it deserve any special treatment. Just a chance to tinker with stuff and review your solution while it's available and while I wait to potentially get a batch milled (I have 3 of them in a box right now including my own)

I don't tend to like discounts or freebies too much because to some degree it makes me feel like the recipient is de-valuing the time and effort spent building something. But I've done a few freebies to close friends so it's not some moral cliff I refuse to jump off I think your solution is really nice from an OCD/perfectionist perspective, eliminating the potential (and meaningless) imperfections of a dremel mod which would likely keep me up at night

So, your call, I won't be upset either way.
