I need some opinions on my Honda Generator. The big eu6500 that I wheel out and plug in the house . It was given to me by my MIL after her boyfriend passed . Had it serviced when it was given to me because the oil was black and it had traces of possible mouse activity in it . Honda repair shop changed oil and everything that comes with the service and said no mouse damage . That was about 3 years ago . I used the generator once for 8 hours when the power went out last year . It is stored in a large closet in my house . Anyway I fire it up a couple times a year and put it back in the closet . This latest time the overload light comes on with nothing plugged into it . Did some Googling and really nothing I can do . Bring to Honda and they say mouse damage - chewed wires and shorted out inverter about $2k to fix . New one is around $3800 . Thing runs like a top too . 12 years old and cost $3080 when new .EU6500 . I’m thinking just get a new one but WTH should/ could I do with this one . Find someone that needs what works on this one ? I would hate to trash it because it runs great but needs the inverter and some wiring.

 

No hunting today . Too early in the season for me and have things to do this week . Going on a 7 day cruise to the Bahamas on Sunday

 

Although I might just grab my climber find a spot this afternoon for the morning. Farmer should be done cutting corn that butts up to part of property I hunt !!! I can leave the climber right on the tree so easy up in the morning

 

Ask the shop if they are interested in Purchase/trade-in on new. Many shops bread and butter isn’t selling new, but flipping units that need fixing/used. If shop says “no” offer the “techs” a side deal sale… they also will consider a buck a buck. Otherwise it’s time for an “as-is” sale where you can inform potential buyers of its issues, but leave the cost out as that is a price negotiable - they likely are considering doing the work themselves and your shops rate isn’t relevant to that.

When we were at the fair Saturday, you know the little stands where the person will guess your birth date, weight, etc? We were walking by one and the guy says "I'll guess your birth date, current weight, heck, I'll even try to guess your court date"

I was laughing like crazy cause the fair isn't in the best of towns in N.C.
