The headlights on may wife's 2011 Honda CRV were dingy and foggy. Here's my simple solution for making them look much better.
Wet the headlights, apply about 10x more toothpaste than for your teeth and work up a good lather with the tire brush. Keep it wet. Then use the sanding sponge to finalize the scrubbing part. Mine came out of a headlight restoration kit I used previously. Its probably a 1500 grit polishing sponge, nothing harsh.
Next,pixlr_20221011155442969.jpg rinse, dry and apply some polish. Buff it out and wipe it all clean. A drill and a polishing brush make the job quicker. Rinse any toothpaste or excess polish off and enjoy your clean headlights.

    Nice!

Seen some people use baking soda and a lemon wedge. Never tried it myself though

Looks like a good end result, but there's an additional step you're missing, which is clear coating the lens. I've had good success with outdoor rated polyurethane (high gloss clear, diluted 50/50 with mineral spirits and wiped on with a lint free cloth for an even coat) on one of my sisters vehicles. Still clear across all but the upper edge of the lamp after 4 years in myrtle beach. 2k clearcoat is another (even better) option, but you really need a respirator to apply it.
