    Troops,

Sorry to drag up the oldest mod in the world. I'm on mile 400 of a brand new truck so I thought I would complete this mod. I'm wondering if it's okay to zip tie to this line that has the metallic heat shield around it. I figured it was okay - as there are clips cinched on it already - but I'm now a little worried about the tie cutting the foil/shield open. Anyone else zip tie here? I just went for the easiest run with the tube - ala Cali Raised LED here (but they don't show where they zip tie):

Here's a photo of how I ran it:

Here's the zip tie on the line I'm worried about (what is that?):

    Here's where it ended up:

Thanks for letting me know if you foresee any probs :)

Bonus: I didn't break any clips!

I did similar, has been working great. You did a good job. Mine was a little longer to fall below the frame. (Yours + 3 inches)

As a mechanic. Seeing zip-ties cut not flushed has me :annoyed:

Please cut them leaving no sharp edges so you or future mechanics working in that area won't cut forearms (any exposed skin) leaving scars.

Yep me too. I also don’t like the way the tube was chewed off instead of cutting it with a razor knife.

Lol thanks all. Love the feedback. I honestly never thought about a mechanic’s arms getting chewed up by the zip ties. I will fix that now. Appreciate the heads up!

As far as the sawed off hose - man that thing was thick!! I tried the razor blade AND my trusty benchmade - and neither could saw it. Had to go to my Milwaukee wire cutters… which is why it looks choppy. Maybe I’ll sand it, or trim it up so no one judges me…

A pair of flush cutters is worth having in the toolbox specifically for zipties. Can get for cheap on Amazon.

And on this forum, no matter what you do you'll be judged.:smack:

Total waste of time. All thats needed is spray a couple coat's of cosmoline on the frame in that area if you don't want to do the entire chassis. This stuff will prevent any rust from taking hold.

Leave mine full length when possible, do my own work and hate getting sliced, its hard to cut them with no sharp edges and they are very stiff when cut off short.

You can also use a pair of large nail clippers. The blade is curved so it does not leave sharp edges. Cheap and it is a multipurpose tool!:)

Yeah, these (the Milwaukee version) are the ones that messed it up. I'll clean it up I swear!

The zip tie cut flush comments I can relate to, but this one’s not gonna keep me up at night
