Hey everybody I’m new to the truck world

    I actually got a stick shift Tacoma 22 and I got some nice Corbeau seats But… after carefully taking out the existing harnesses and plugging in my seatbelt harness in the passenger, I now have a check engine light??… I did swap the ridiculous gas cap for one with a lock and I don’t know if it could be related and that simple… any help on this is Greatly appreciated!!!…

    Try swapping out the gas cap to see if the light goes away?

    Any pics of the seats?

    I am going to swap back gas cap in a minute… I’ve had many hondas and never an issue with check engine lights and I’m okay with the airbag light because it won’t fail inspection…

    I would look at gas cap before the seats. Start there - put the original back on, pull the battery cables and let it "reset" see if the CEL comes back on.

    You don't have a simple scanner to plug in to your OBDII port and get the code causing the check engine light?

    ^^ This. Preferably one that will allow you to clear the code as well. These trucks seem to be fussy about gas caps. Lots of threads about people who switched out for a locking gas cap and got a CEL.

    You have to get an inspection on a new vehicle? That's rough. It's only after 10 or 15 years or something where I live that you need an inspection.

    You could also just go to any auto parts store and borrow theirs if you don't think you'll need it much.

    I'm pretty sure it's the aftermarket gas cap. The seal probably isn't a tight like OEM.

    I have a 22 as well, and like the first time I filled up I somehow (or someone messing with me) left the gas cap open. It didn't turn the engine light on. It gave a specific warning for the gas cap
