Hello all - new guy on the block.

Been wanting a pickup my whole life but never really needed one until recently. Everyone says I'll never go back - I hope they're right!

I picked up a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro with 10,500 miles for $42,300. So far I'm in love but a few comments/observations I'd love some feedback on.

I'm coming from driving an BMW X4M that was super quick and this truck has me feeling like I'm driving a 4-cylinder. Anything easy I can do to achieve a bit more zip while maintaining the warranty? I didn't buy it for speed obviously and have no interest in racing it, but just looking for a bit more.

The passenger seat shakes while I'm driving on the highway - a lot - and it's distracting. Nothing underneath seems loose. Is this common? Any remedies?

The driver window doesn't seal 100%. There's a pesky wind sound coming from the far upper left hand side. Is this common? Any remedies?

    I love the wireless charger.

I love the power back window.

The remote start from the app and the wi-fi hotspot are very cool features.

I love the look of the TRD Pro black leather seats - but my initial 9-hour drive home from the dealership was not comfortable at all. It could take some time to get used to I guess, but so far I'm not sold on the comfort.

Looking forward to researching mods. I had an FJ Cruiser in the past and had grand designs for modding it out - bought a bunch of stuff and never got around to it. I can see myself having this Tacoma for the long haul though.

First thing first is picking up a tonneau cover - so far I'm comparing everything to the BakFlip MX4. Closest competitor I've seen would be a cover by Lomax. Any suggestions would certainly be welcomed.

Overall I'm thrilled I went this direction and happy to be back in the Yoda family!

    1. Seats do shake, try to change the position and or see if you need a balance
    2. Check those weird rain visors you got they may be causing the noise.
    3. these things are pigs compared to a x4m, make your peace with it.
    4. I like the mx4 but there are plenty of other designs

Welcome. Other than a supercharger other bolt ons just add noise. After mine is broken in I plan on a tune. You won't gain a great deal of power but drivability is improved, especially for the transmission tuning.

Had a Bakflip on my previous truck and have a Lomax on my Tacoma. I definitely prefer the quality of the Bakfkip.

If yours doesn't have a power seat look into Seat Jackers. Others have found them helpful in improving the seating position.

The driver seat is power and I believe the passenger is manual.

Also the passenger seat doesn’t go up and down… only back and forth

Have fun. It is not a BMW. It ís not fast. It is a truck designed to do truck things, like haul stuff. It has a solid axle, it will shake and shimmy, it has a full body on frame. Do not have unrealistic expectations.

Super white is the best color, congrats on ur choice.
Is your roof all black? Is it a wrap?
As mentioned already, look into a tune for better drivability, shifting , etc. I have the OTT. Love it.

    1. Drive downhill and flap your arms with the windows open. Otherwise, ECT button or a professional tune from KD Max or others.

    2. Double check the passenger seat bolts? It's a truck and the build quality isn't going to be on par with BMW.

    3. Have you tried some weatherstrip re-conditioner like mothers vlr (vinyl, leather, rubber)?

    4. Send a message to Luke @truckalter or @GotExhaust for a quote on whichever tonneau's you're interested in.
I went with the Bakflip X4S. The roll up feature of the X4S is nice and it doesn't block the rear window when fully opened. However, it's kind of awkward to walk along the side of truck and roll it up with both hands. Also, it gets very hot in the AZ summer (like too hot to touch) and the rear plastic end pieces like to pop off when it's rolled or unrolled. Have you considered the Retrax or Lomax Stance?

You’ll get used to the quirks. I went from a sedan to the taco. Took a minute to get used to the stiffness. Now it’s not even on my mind after 7,300 miles

It is all black - figured it was stock, but I suppose it could be a wrap. I've been searching all night on where to find the original specs when it was purchased new. The red Toyota emblem on the grille seems like it wasn't stock (which I don't like), as well as the black on the hood and roof (which I do like).

    Nice truck and welcome!

As others have said a tune is probably the first thing I would look into for for helping with the responsiveness and any hear hunting you might experience.

I just drove about 1600 miles over the weekend in mine with a powered seat and while it's not as comfortable as my old Jetta was it wasn't terrible either. I've heard good things on seat jackers but not sure how much they really would change on powered seat.

Good to know. I've thought about them for the passenger seat to try to help out the Mrs on trips but haven't pulled the trigger.
