For where you are I vote dedicated winter's. The ice/packed snow traction will be way better(plenty of a b comparison tests supporting this) than "all weather" tires that have the ice rating. The rubber compounds will also win out at low low temps

I was feeling a bit bored so I decided to put together a 2-tire inflator/deflator and added a pressure switch on the compressor. Very happy with the results! The hardest part was finding a bloody M12x1.25 to 1/4" NPT...had to call so many stores to find one.

I went with a 2-tire setup vs 4-tire setup since it would be lighter and less hose to deal with.

I can't believe it took me this long to put something like this together. It cut my deflation time in half and so much more convenient that bending down at each tire.

I added a parts list with links if anyone wants to do it as well!

I figured a dedicated winter set however, idk how they would hold up in terms of weight on the rear end. Buddy asked for some help to move some stuff down an ice road to his cabin when the snow finally starts.

Dont want the tire to give out from being overweight or something

Even the most basic P-metric snow tire will exceed the Tacoma's capacity.
    • 10mm = 13/32" that's like new tread depth on most car tires
    • Your STMaxxes as-is have better winter traction than Falkens.
    • Ideal winter config would be new STMaxx or Duratrac with studs
    • However, studs should be installed in new tires only. The studs are intended to wear down at the same rate as the rubber.
What do the locals run? Beat-up Corolla on all-seasons?

If the load rating is sufficient should be fine if they're aired up accordingly.
As long as the load rating is sufficient and air pressure adjusted for the weight should be fine.
