OMG , I just found out my 2013 Tacoma I traded in for my new 2021 Tacoma pro that I love , had a hole in frame dam it , dealership salesman let me know that they had someone interested in buying my old truck but needed a proper inspection , and they pulled rear wheel off an notice a spot on frame behind tire , they did hammer test and it opened a hole up , they cant sell truck to be road worthy , there selling at auction for parts , the recall ran out lest year but I was unaware of any issue , truck looked perfect on outside no issues , to those with a 2014 or newer , get it checked , my truck 2013 looked great but never recieved any recall notice , only owned for about 5 to 6 years , I could not believe how lucky I got not to be in an accident or anything because of this .

I thought the recall was 12 years from date of first use?
If so, a 2013 should still be covered?

Start frame recall NOW! You're still covered and of you run the clock out by 1 day you are SOL from Toyota.

He traded it in...and the dealer found the frame issue before they sold it to someone else. He has a new truck.

If dealer was smart they'd get the frame replaced and make a heck of a lot more money than selling at auction..

    Congratulations on the 2021

Sounds like you got rid of it at the right time and got lucky they didn’t find that before you traded it in.

Sounds like you unknowingly suckered a dealership. Kudos to you.

I would have thought so as well , but being its a Toyota dealership , if I understood the salesman an I could be wrong , Toyota the company will not allow the truck back on the road since the recall is expired

Dam skippy I was lucky , even luckier it was a Saturday at noon and when they drove it over to be inspected the tech was out to lunch , so it never got inspected until someone wanted to buy it , still they couldnt see anything until rear wheel was removed , they noticed a spot not a hole until the hammer test proved it was worse,,the truck is my avatar on here an looked great on the outside

It’s those beadlocks OP, they razzledazzled the dealership into being unable to see the forest for the trees. Glad you made out with a new truck!

Seems odd that the dealer would tell you this.

did your frame have the CrC coating?

I only owned the 2013 for around 5 years or so an only put 28,000 personal miles on it , never got a recall notice or anything , dealer said it probably still went to the original owner , and unsure of coating as they tell me it rusted from inside out

Wouldn't say he unknowingly suckered, more like a undiscovered defect.
