I have a 2011 Tacoma ext cab 4x4 and I would like to build a custom pre runner. Can anyone recommend a good custom shop in DFW?

What do you want to customize it to be?

I mean, what's your end vision? How do you plan on using the truck after rebuilding it?

It will be a daily driver. It will be my fishing truck and be able to pull a boat. Increase offroad capability, more horse power, more clearance for bigger tires, Body kit, bumpers and lights. This is all preproduction so I am still researching.

Ok, thanks, that gives me an idea of what you are after. The two favorite DFW shops for that kind of stuff are Tandem and Tread Depot. I'd go talk to one of them to spitball ideas, and I'd also recommend doing a lot of reading on this site. Like, a lot of reading.

The two ways of going about it are either A)blindly throwing money at it, and then throwing more money to fix it when you discover you don't like it.

    B) Come up with a very specific purpose on how you will use the truck, determine what modifications will aid in that purpose, and more importantly what physical aspect each modification is going to be sacrificing (no such thing as a free lunch).

Option B requires a little bit of a learning phase. So go talk to a few shops, hang out here, develop relationships, learn, and THEN go throw money at it. :cookiemonster:

Thanks for the info. I looked them up and look like shops that know what they are doing.

If you're wanting a full build, check out Tribe 16. I'd recommend them over Tread Depot for full custom work. Tandem is fine, but their timelines (and costs) tend to slip.

I got nothing to add other than to say “A PreRunner is 2WD” so you probably don’t want that if you are looking for more traction. But a PreRunner sure does make a sweat Baja Truck!
