2020 Super White Tacoma TRD Off Road
Hi, this is my first post. I recently just bought a 2020 Tacoma TRD Off Road in super white last January and planning to try to put new tires on specifically the BFG KO2 in the 285/70/r17 or the 275/70/r17 size. How much of a lift would I need to fit these tires?

I'm also a broke college student so I am kind of leaning toward the Bilstine 5100's leveling lift after a lengthy conversation with a sales associate at 4WPs store in my area who said that they would clear. I'm still kind of skeptical about this since I don't really want to spend all the money and realize that it doesn't work. Any recommendations and would a leveling lift be able to help me clear those 33s?

Lifting a vehicle does not = larger tires will fit perfectly. Sure it may clear better at ride height, but lock to lock and full cycle it will likely hit the cab mount. If you don't care about that or plan to do a cab mount chop, don't plan on off-roading and alignment is not a concern, yes a budget focused lift will help clear those tires. Doing it right to fit 285/70/17s would require an aftermarket upper control arm (like the one we offer) to help position the tire further forward in the wheel well to clear the cab mount. This would also help get your alignment back on track for the added lift. Yes this is a lot to just clear large tires, so choose wisely based on your needs.

not true,, upgraded front eibach springs, plus 1/4 spacer up front = 2 inch front lift on my 2017.. 2 inch tapered block in rear,, SCS wheels.. no rub, lots of clearance,, factory UCA's, alignment is perfect.. wheels play a big part,,,offset and backspacing..

For me, my finances varied a lot from semester to semester. It's hard enough to be going through school with a car payment. Don't add to it. Trust me, the more money you have in your pocket during the transition from graduation to the "real job," the better off you will be.

I’m also in college and abt to do 6112/5160 w Icon rxt. Spend your money on what makes you happy. But on stock wheels everything I’ve seen I don’t think those tires clear the UCA or cab mount. What’s your wheel specs if not stock? Off road has 16’s and you’re saying a 17 inch wheel based on tire size you wrote

Yea the stock trd off road has 16 in wheels, but I'm planning to switch to the 17 in wheel size anyway.
