I bought my new 22 TRD Off Rd in June. At the time of purchase I bought the maintenance plus plan for $750 for 55k miles and or 5 years. I had my first 5k service done today and the dealer left greasy handprints all over both front doors. I want to cancel the plan. I'm not even sure if they did the tire rotation but I'm not 100%. Left a bad taste in my mouth and it's not worth my aggravation to bring it to Toyota after the first two included services/oil changes. I'll bring it to my mechanic that I trust. Love the truck hate the dealers. Does anyone know if I need to call the original purchasing dealer or Toyota and if it's even cancelable? I'm sure I have the contract somewhere but I'm still looking for it.

Cancel that shit, I got a 2012 and have never had a problem with it, then don't ever take your truck back to the dealer unless you absolutely have to. Good luck with your truck.

I’ve found one dealer that is pretty trustworthy. I brought my truck in for something and the service tech brought me back to my truck while it was on the lift to show what they found

This is a maintenance plan, not an extended warranty, correct?

From the TFS website under Prepaid Maintenance Plans (ToyotaCare Plus):
    • Cancellation
You can cancel your Prepaid Maintenance Plan within the first 30 days for a full refund if no benefits have been paid. If benefits have been paid, or if you are cancelling after the first 30 days please ask your dealer or refer to your agreement upon purchase.

The “old” mechanics at the dealer near me did a great job and even washed the truck or car afterwards. Even did me a solid on additional work while they were in there timing belt(now chain I believe) they changed the water pump for list rather than put old back on. I know it was a biggie but I hadn’t thought to ask. Now they don’t wash (give you a ticket to a local car wash for basic wash if they remember. They leave the floor paper in to show they used them I guess. Argue over warranty and only fill the oil to an even 6 qts. Not 6.4 they have a new crew and it stinks, not going back for anything unless warranty covers it. Thanks for giving me a chance to blow off stream. Cancel cancel cancel. good luck

That's great, glad it worked out for you.
I find their techs are a bunch of high school dropouts on drugs. Dealer is also over priced on both parts and labor. These trucks are pretty simple, do what you can yourself and find a good trustworthy shop to help you with what you can't do yourself. Good luck with your truck.

I cancelled my prepaid maintenance plan and warranty before I was outside the free 25K mile service interval for new vehicles, and got refunded the full amounts of the prepaid plan and equivalent interest paid through financing, the refund being applied to the remainder of what I owed on the truck. I basically realized I could have better work done elsewhere for less, and that I was more likely to damage the truck myself from wheeling than to need a warranty item covered.

Customer service is dead in many businesses throughout the country today. It is really sad to see this happening in so many places of business. That being said you have the option of extending grace and giving the service manager a polite call and advising him of the condition in which your vehicle was returned to you. That a full complimentary detail and a tire rotation would put your mind at ease and continue to give them future opportunity to keep your business. Or you could just decide with your wallet and your feet, cancel the plan and walk. However, you may just find yourself in the same situation you already are, but with a second dealership.

I have found one dealer that was problematic to me over five years ago now, and once I got done posing on every review website I could find. Each and every detail about my bad service experience (after I gave the service manager a chance to rectify it)... The service manager called me back and took care of my concerns. Before the service he begged me to pull the online reviews down. I told him no, that I would take them down after he rectified my concerns. My reviews were not slanderous and were 100% factual. That worked for me. YMMV.

    Have a blessed day,

I will never understand why so many dealerships have such bad service, careless techs and dick head service managers. I have had my share of issues over the years. I understand there are some good dealerships out there, but they are the minority. Wish I felt like my local dealership gives a fuck. But they don't.

You can go directly to the dealer and cancel or call the toyota vsa tell them you want to cancel and then fax them a letter stating you want to cancel your maintenance plan. I just did this with my extended warranty. they prorated the days after 30 days and i received most of it back.

Called Toyota and they're cutting me a check for the full refund of the maintenance plus package. Now I need to figure out a $750 upgrade to my truck before my wife finds the check. Thanks for the advice.

That could put a serious dent in the cost of new wheels and/or tires :)

I like the rims and tires on the TRD off rd right from the factory. Don't do a crazy amount of off roading. Just campgrounds and maybe the beach every now and then and of course the snowy north east winters.

Here is my dealership experience from yesterday.

I had my 10K service scheduled in the early afternoon. I removed the skid plate prior mainly because I wanted to inspect the oil filter housing afterward. Later yesterday afternoon when I get home I crawl under the truck and there is a small amount of oil on the housing. WTF? Was it residual or is it leaking?

If it's residual oil, why? I always clean that area very well when I change the oil. There is no oil, zero, nada, zilch, anywhere near the oil filter when I change oil and install a new filter.

I checked the oil level and it was fine.

I carefully wiped everything clean and took the truck for a short drive and parked it overnight. This morning I checked and again, a small amount of oil that seems to be seeping from around the flange.

Thankfully I had a filter and gasket and changed it this morning. There was nothing obvious causing the small leak other than maybe the housing was tightened too tight. It wasn't really really tight, but it was certainly more than 18 ft-lbs. The O-ring looked fine.

In addition to the oil leak, they forgot to secure both clamps for the air filter cover and to put the red plastic cover back on the positive terminal of the battery (they checked the battery as part of the 10K service).

I'm done, once is enough. I have changed oil hundreds if not thousands of times on various gas and diesel vehicles and machinery. I do not need their free oil service.

If you are wondering why I just didn't go back to the dealership this morning and have them take care of it, I live about 50 miles away and I wasn't going to risk driving the truck any further with an oil leak regardless of how small.

I took photos and emailed them to the dealership this morning along with a description of what I found and did. I was polite and didn't demand anything in my email. I have not yet heard from them.
