Just from the behavior ive seen deer show over the years I would say no but its just a guess. Deer are extremely curious animals, they will investigate logging operations just too see what is going on, which from all the sounds and odors are obviously man made. They walk in neighborhoods looking around and going up to fences where dogs are yapping at them. They like to check out anything new they come across, like we do.
Now if you Google the subject you get a loud "NO" on them working from where they have been tested. So theres that.

I ride motorcycles and have seen many deer. The only thing I found that spooks them is my horn. I hit it a couple time and the run away. Not sure what it is about it but I have done it many times.

Deer whistles do not work. It’s been proven time and again. The basic idea is that they would have to make a sound far enough ahead of the vehicle going so fast that it’s impossible to stop in time after you see the deer. The whistle does not create enough volume to accomplish this.

I see deer raise their heads as I approach them. Need to be traveling 35+ mph. Similar to dog whistles. A large parks system in the Midwest cut their deer strikes to almost zero after installing them. I personally talked to their manager.

when you get your truck fixed you should slap on a deer sticker to let all the other deers know how many deers your truck has killed

Yeah I had the same issue when I hit a deer with my old explorer with Geico. They wouldn't total it although the front end was super smashed, and it was old at that point and not worth very much... so it stayed there for a few months, not surprisingly they couldn't find parts for the old thing anymore. They paid way more in body shop repair costs than just totalling it out, it was insane. Rental insurance situation was the same, I ended up paying a ton for another rental as well and when I finally did get it back it wasn't repaired very well. Super frustrating

I like the way you think! Now that the resell value has taken a hit I might as well turn it into a crawler/trail rig.

I can see them helping at slow speeds but high speeds have to make them ineffective.

    Thanks!!

    I feel your pain brother!!

The only club where every member hated joining.

    You got that right!

Now this idea is pure genius!!! Just like how fighter pilots paint their kills on their planes. Hopefully I dont become an Ace though.

Apparently it depends on how badly the deer was damaged. The one I hit must have broke his neck or back because there was no blood other than a small bit out of the nose and he died quick. Ive never ate any that I know of but its fairly common to not let the animal go to waste. On Alaskan State Troopers you see moose get hit pretty regular and the Troopers always take the animal to some shelter or needy family so I guess its ok.
