2020 access cab (TRD sport) speakers difference from 2020+ base speakers?

Hi everyone, I’ve done some googling on this but not coming up with a whole lot of info due to probably the low sales rate of TRD sport spec access cab trucks.
I’ve seen some info on the 2016-2019 non JBL, entune vs base head units but all (non subwoofer) speakers actually are the same part numbers in the front row.

I believe the head units were changed for 2020+, my truck has the bigger touchscreen, but due to being an access cab the premium audio was not even an option. That said, it does have speakers in the rear half doors although you can barely hear them.

I have also sat in 2020+ base dual cab SR and SR5 tacomas which seem to have better sound performance (with the smaller screen head units).

im trying to understand if the difference in sound quality comes from some part number difference in front speakers, rear speakers, or is there just less speaker placement/sound deadening in the access cab?

mid i we’re to grab front dash and door speakers from a 2020+ SR dual cab truck from a junkyard will it improve the sound in my access cab truck?

I'm doubtful there is a difference in the speakers used in the non-JBL models, be it 7" or 8".
Not likely. How much are you going to save over the Subaru/Kicker tweater replacements people rave about, and a decent set of door speakers for the front?

Personally, I wouldn't worry about the reproduction of the sound from the speakers in the access doors. From the driver's or front passenger positions, the rear speakers will have a lower level, and they arguably should from a sound perception perspective. YMMV. You can always adjust your balance and fade, and someone said, those settings are sound-source specific. You might want to check that.

    Good luck.

On my 2020 TRD Sport DCLB with the 8" display the sound is okay for the driver and passenger but not the back. I've messed with the settings as the sound is very anemic back there no matter what I do. I think the consensus here was Toyota did this by design for whatever reason. To remedy that I'd have to consider some upgrades but I'm not that motivated at the moment. I think there was a post here somewhere on how to improve the sound in your truck on a budget. I'm not too sure if that included Access cabs tho.

The Subaru/Kicker tweeter mod is a cheap and easy upgrade.

They seem much brighter and play a bit louder than the factory ones, it raised the sound off the floor.

One of the biggest detractor to the access cab sound is the amazing amount of road noise that comes from the back wall area. That is on my improvement list.

I guess I commited audio blasphemy. I upgraded the tweeters with the Subaru/Kicker ones. I also upgraded the front with KS Kickers Coax and the rear with KS Coax 6.75 and I tied the front speakers with the rear speakers. I use a harness so I did not have to cut any factory speaker wires. This will hold me over until I can get an amp.
