You'd need an external temp sensor to read from first. Not aware of any 1st gens that came with one. IIRC most vehicle temp sensors read from the ground which is why they don't tend to be too accurate. Back in my early car days I fixed a digital PC temp gauge onto a rearview and let the sensor itself sit on the windshield seal and it worked really good for what it was... but that was 15ish years ago and I know I wouldn't have put it through the same testing I would today, lol.

The compass! totally forgot about that one. It's not a good idea to pull that from the GPS since direction while going that slow is so inaccurate.. at least using some of the cheaper GPS modules and I'm not interested in throwing anything expensive in these because I already feel they will be more expensive than I originally intended. I do have a handful of sensors I've been playing with that will pull direction much better than the GPS does though :) It would be easy to put in the compass and I will for sure make that an option.

    Thanks!

Arrived here from another thread and looks like a cool project that I was going to start researching/building soon. Doesn't look like htere have been any udpates recently - you still tinkering with this or is it gone?
