Are you certain? I highly doubt metal debris will lubricate as well as oil

you said the same thing on another thread. i disagree. 500 miles is plenty for break-in.

    Oh look, another mod....
I think this entire argument can be summed up by saying this:

It's your truck, and do whatever you want to it. You're paying for it. Not me. Change the oil at 100 miles or 100,000 miles. Enjoy your truck.\

To the OP: I'm sorry I questioned your way of doing things.

People can change at any mileage they wish. You stating it’s a “bad idea” is nonsense, won’t hurt a thing and and changing early after engine break in is never a bad idea.

he installed the fumoto valve, which uses it's own rubber washer. to maintain the oem washer, he'd need to double-up on washers, and that method always leaks. too many sealing surfaces.

Are we really bringing up someone spending $40-80 extra in maintenance for peace of mind as "pissing money"?

Because I just blew $300 in parts on a Bluetooth speaker build that I neither need or is necessary for my survival and I'm doing just fine.

I'd bet anything if I looked over your finances you're pissing away $80 on something entirely stupid to me as well.

If an $80 early oil change is in his budget and helps him sleep at night, I'm fine with him changing it every week! Heck, get the significant other involved, make a frozen pizza, pop open a $5 bottle of wine, and that's cheaper than a real on-the-town date night anymore!

That’s it I’ve had enough of the “If you don’t wait until 10k miles you’re an idiot” oil change interval Nazi’s.
I don’t drive a lot these days so gonna do an oil change at every gas fill up. Just to make heads explode.

If you drove a BMW, that'd be closer to the truth than you think. Keep a quart of oil in the car in a genuine BMW oil pouch. Pour it in every gas fill-up. After 6-7 fill-ups, you've effectively changed the oil in the engine.

Same I changed mine at 1K as well for the break-in then again at 5K. Unnecessary? Maybe but it gave me piece of mind.

    This thread went as expected.
Ask about a oil drain gasket.
Get oil change interval opinions.

I’ll stick to answering the original question.
Yes, I’ve seen them stuck. It’s not at all unusual.
Even my 1st Gen was “stuck”. It stayed stuck for 54k miles.
    Never leaked.

When I added my fumoto valve to my 2nd gen, I left the OEM washer on and it lasted for 12 years no problem

My gasket was stuck also, when I changed my oil at 1000 miles.

How many of you gents who are poo pooing o.p. for changing his oil at 1000 miles have actually built a new motor? And how many have motors have you actually built? And I mean built, not changed a couple of gaskets and spray bombed it. Sounds like no one from these posts. I'm at 900 miles presently, and will be changing oil and filter shortly. Thanks for heads up on the gasket sticking issue, I will be prepared with extra, new one if it sticks and is ruined.

You clearly don't work on modern engines.

I've built plenty of OEM engines. We never tell the owner to come back in 1k unless we're uncertain variables. Engines don't have soft bearings or cams that need to be "broken in" anymore.

Building a V8 with custom internals? Sure. Toyota engine? Nah.

And again, I'm not against it. I'm just saying its not needed.
