    Good day y'all,

So a while back I got OME nitrochargers all around, and paired them with OME 887 coils plus some Icon AAL's. Supposed to have lifted the front around 2" and the rear 1.5. Have 33" (255/80/17) Toyo AT3's on 17" 2021ish SEMA TRD wheels for reference. Lately I've been interested in getting a metal front bumper, for just the center front part of the bumper, not a full one. This would replace the front protruding plastic piece of the bumper where the license plate is mounted. I'm currently looking into some options, I'll link a few:

    4WP: https://www.4wheelparts.com/p/4-whe...vfW33YBvl84DU6DpMkp37oRr7QgGaOAAaArW-EALw_wcB

    Body Armor 4x4: https://www.extremeterrain.com/body...f7RUBHykteORX-RJMSsaAiuhEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

    https://www.extremeterrain.com/dv8-...kNWgERzifmdP5xKqjQsaAtMbEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I'm really interested in getting one of these types of bumpers, I really like the look and the functionality would be cool too. I want to clarify again that these are not FULL front bumpers like something from ARB. I also want to clarify that I won't be running a winch. My question is will my 887 coils on my nitrochargers be able to handle the weight? I don't think they would weigh any more than 100 pounds, instead more in the realm of 60-80lbs. If anyone has these bumpers and knows the weight then that would be appreciated as well. I just put the 887s on a few months ago and I'm not really interested in getting 888's or something equivalent since I don't really feel like disassembling parts of the front end unless I really need to. Plus I don't want there to be a chance I'm gonna knock the alignment out too, since I got one after doing the shocks, then another after doing the coils. If 888's or something are absolutely necessary, I may just forget about it for the time being.

    Any input would be appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Brooks

I do have an aluminum stump bumper that weighs about 45 pounds, I’m on 887s. The front dropped maybe about 3/16s-1/4” . I also installed a winch and steel sliders at the same time. Running 255/80/17s as well. I think you will be just fine with just the steel stump bumper.

    Hope that helps.

Pretty sure @Stocklocker is running 888s, winch and steel stump bumper.

Nice rig! I dig it! Did it drop 3/16” or 1/4” after you installed the bumper, winch, and sliders? If that’s the case then maybe just the bumper wouldn’t make the front side on my truck but if it did then I guess it wouldn’t be noticeable?

    Thanks!

It dropped about 3/16s or so once I installed bumper, winch and sliders. Front of truck looks the same as before to me.

I honestly don’t think you will notice anything with just the bumper. 887s are for stock or light loads so you will be just fine.

Yes I am. Works great. Sagged about 1/2” in the 1st year and went up one notch and is now stable and good.

I just put an ARB bumper (no winch) on my 2nd gen access cab with 887s on nitrochargers, and really no sag so far, but it's only been on there for a week or so. The truck definitely rides much better with it on than it did before, though

Appreciate it once again. Wasn't looking forward to stiffer coils that would give a harsher ride. I'll let you know which I decide to go with, whenever I get around to actually buying one .

Yeah I think 888s with just a stump bumper will be a bit stiff.

FWIW, my buddy has identical truck like mine but green, stock suspension. He installed same aluminum stump bumper with which, no sliders though. He has no complaints whatsoever.

If you really want to know, all you have to do is put the equivalent amount of weight on the front of your truck (eg have a child stand on your bumper and then use a tape measure.

You can also easily estimate the change in ride height with some simple physics if you know the spring rate of your coil springs. For example, the stock springs are about 700 lb/in and there is a 2-1 motion ratio, so every 350 lbs will lower the front end 1” approximately.

    Work in progress...
Well Actually, you would have to leave the weight on there for a week or two...come to find out.

Why even bother with a half bumper if you're not going to have a winch?

The Body Armor 4x4 is 64lbs by itself, it’s what I have.

    88D8697A-F1AD-41E8-89EA-965F674B3E5D.jpg
I was worried about front end droop, which made me end up going with adjustable coil overs, so I can’t speak on the 887s.

Looks, protection, and some functionality too like light mounts and such beside the winch… plus my bumper has some big scrapes on it from the previous owner I guess

Why not? Stock bumper is a flimsy useless piece of plastic.

Yes the plastic covering is flimsy, but underneath it is something sturdy. I accidentally ran into a tree at enough speed for me to accidentally hit the horn and didn’t leave much of a mark.

On the flip side, my plastic cover is zip tied on due to separate incidents. I carry extra zip ties in case it falls off and I have used a couple.

So far I’ve heard the Body Armor is 60 something pounds and the 4WP is something later. I feel like the 4WP one looks a little cooler, but if 20 pounds less will be better than I can make that trade. Body armor is also cheaper by a few hundred so don’t know. Still in deciding phase. Body armor can accommodate a full 20” light bar it seems like but the 4WP can accommodate 2x2 light pods. At least they both have shackle mounts which is nice. Winch mount is good to have if I decide to get one in the future but for the foreseeable future probably not.
