Has anyone removed or done anything with the seemingly redundant mesh filter between the air filter and the throttle body? Seems super restrictive and a good air filter doesn’t need help. Lol. Am I missing something here? I noticed it when cleaning the TB and doing plugs tonight.

It's a charcoal filter to prevent fuel vapors from escaping the intake, it can be removed but there's no performance benefit to removing it.

It is a charcoal filter that is not restrictive at all. It absorbs gasses and fumes for when the engine is shut off. Removing it will do nothing.

Engineers who understand the system more than you put that there. We as consumers have been repeatedly lied to by companies like K&N with BS claims about air flow.

On another note i do hate K&N but an engine is a big air pump. Seems blocking more air isn’t that beneficial on the other end of it.

The problem with that is, the biggest restrictor is the throttle body, the filter and mesh already flow more than the throttle body can handle so its not really restricting it.

The more important thing would be to use a good air filter and change it when needed.
Other wise, there is a “small” chance you could eventually clog the vapor filter.
I’ve never seen it happen or even heard of it happening, but it’s possible I guess?
