    can anyone share a picture of their first gen with a 21.5" (short) add a leaf installed for a rear lift? I'm probably going to put one in but im curious how much lift these short Add a leafs actually provide. I really dont want to lift the rear more than 1.5"s. right now my truck has a generous squat because It has ARB 2883 coils in the front and is stock in the rear. would like to see it closer to level but still higher in the front. thanks in advance.

    I recommend the 3 leaf add a leaf (remove the overload unless you tow)- you just end up with a much nicer setup. If you need a little more height after that then a 1" shackle would be a good option.

    @Andy01DblCabTacoma

    I dont really tow that much but I'd rather just leave the OL leaf in for when I do. thanks for the tip though, maybe I'll do something like that in the future if im not happy with the way the AAL feels.

    Part of the reason for removing the overload is the physical height of the pack ends up interfering with the parking brake, and the other biggie is that you'd end up with more lift than you're after. It would end up being 1.5" + height of the overload. With the additional springs you don't quite have the issue that the overload prevents. Without the overload, and the 3 leaf AAL my packs were dead flat with the bed fully loaded with compost.

    I got 2" out of a dakar AAL with the stock leaf pack. More than I thought I would. I will probably go with a 3 leaf progressive sooner or later.

    It’s not. I have that tool box loaded and used to throw couple hundred lbs of sand in the back against the tailgate when I wasn’t using the bed. It’s lifted 2in in the front. And 3in on the rear it has a noticeable rake might be the angle I took the pic at.

    I put in the add a leaf and it lifted the rear of my truck disgustingly high. like 4 or 5 inches. looked so bad I took it out the same day.

    o_O what aal did you use, and how exactly did you install it? Did you actually measure?

    Haha yea did you put them in with new leaf packs? I had the same problem but I loaded the bed for over a year with couple hundred lbs. couple years later no more sand bags now and on an empty tank of gas bout an inch higher then the front. And like half an inch higher then the front with a full tank of gas I had put in a new heavier duty leaf pack at the same time. I’d recommend getting some shackles for getting it where you want it.

    I installed it the on top of the over load and under the other 3 leafs. it was a 21" short AAL so that's really the only place that makes sense. I just got this truck and the leaf springs are new so thats why I this added a lot more than 2"s.

    my goal is to lift the rear one single inch and thats it. looks like my only option is a block, which doesn't seem like the best option mechanically. I wish someone made a thinner add a leaf or one with less arch to it.

    You can use a longer shackle

    I think that you're supposed to remove the overload when you add an AAL. At least the 3 leaf packs you are. Either way, I always suggest the 3 leaf over the single anyway as you end up with a better pack.
