Hey guys. I just got front and rear air lockers installed on my Tacoma 4x4 sport. I have a couple questions though. Firstly, whats the top speed I can go with the locker engaged. Secondly when should I change the gear oil for the first time (due to break in period). Lastly after driving for a while I smell this oily smell from the diff area not sure if its residual grease on the diff or just it breaking it. I know have the correct parts and that everything was professionally installed….

I would not engage lockers at in time other than low speed off road use. Certainly never on road. I have had F/R ARB for 2 years now and have never had a single issue. The break in process is very important for new gears so please see link. As long as you follow it you will have no issues. Gear oil is a very distinct odor that doesnt just go away after you wipe it with a rag so that sounds normal to me it will probably take a little bit for the smell to go away.

    Hope this helps.

Ok. So my initial drive I handled correctly. First time using was only for 15 and at low speeds. I did drive 300 miles back home (Mammoth lakes from socal) and only stopped every 100 miles. Im worried I didnt handle that 50 mile cool down period correctly. Should I change my gear oil asap?
