    Hello Everyone,

This Post is for anyone out there with 3rd Gen Tacoma that may need some guidance as I didnt have much when dealing with this code.

Backstory, I bought a 2016 Tacoma, Replaced factory stereo with aftermarket for apple carplay.
In the process of doing so, i forgot to unplug battery. Stupid I know.

After everything was done. I turned on my truck and check engine light was on after driving for about 2 min.

P0500 came and cruise control was no longer available as well as traction control was off until reaching 30 mph.

I researched online for weeks finding answers and i was able to find some clarification from others experience and this particular youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVrRBMf6Cxg

I took the truck to toyota and they couldnt figure out the issue. I told them i thought it might of have been the cluster but the service advisor was convinced it wasnt.

Well.. Sean from toyota.. in your FACE!

    I bought a new cluster from www.teamequip.com.

i originally had the 04k50 cluster but i swapped it with a 04F00 ( which is compatible on toyota website ) and boom. Code is gone and everything is back to normal.

Now i just need to reprogram the correct miles in the new cluster.

I hope this thread helps others and ill leave a link below to my original thread.

    Thanks!
