I need to relocate my bourbon and have no idea where to put it. We have a 2 year old that runs a muck so floor mounted cabinetry probably won't work.. Basement feels too cold and far away, and my office is way too close and not enough space. Any ideas?

I picked up an old piece of office furniture for $35. Then personalized and reinforced it with stronger shelf brackets. The bottom half has doors like a cabinet. It's about 6-7ft tall.

After moving I had to add a locking door in my basement hallway in order for us to get our foster license. My booze is in my office on some Costco shelves and my 'rona project Texas whiskey display.

Alright, help me understand. Why have so many that it will take a lifetime to finish? Like if they are open won’t they eventually go bad if you’re just trying them as they will oxidize etc. I assume they have to have some sort of shelf life once opened?

    Whiskey doesn't oxidize.

Shelf life is probably as long as yours.

Interesting. So, I assume flavor profile will change is that correct?

    Could.

Thing is, any given bottle has a unique chemical composition. Depends what it absorbed from the barrel(s) during ageing.

What that then does over time in a solvent mix is necessarily unpredictable.

Have you had the Knob Creek 15 year, if so how does it compare?

    Nice try, wife.

Seriously though, us whiskey nerds like to share, and my guests are always happy. I've mentioned this before, but some of these have been open for 5 years or so. As long as I take care of the corks and move to smaller containers after getting below half filled... they taste exactly the same as they always have.

I have a bottle of 40yr Glenfarclas that was my first anniversary gift, and in a few weeks I'll open it for the fourth time to enjoy a pour on my anniversary. I exchanged the cork for a synthetic one and I wrap it in parafilm after pouring to preserve it - hopefully all the way till my 25th anniversary.

It's also a lucrative investment for those of us that beat the craze.

My NFL team just traded away their best player. Time for a good pour.

I’m going to start calling you the Whiskey Professor.

I would have to think on that Caribou…plus I think you’ve already gotten me enough good stuff.

Try the single barrel rye. One of my favorites.
