@Wulf and anyone with paint experience

What is it exactly that one would buy to "flatten" an already painted wall.

Just some spackling compound or is something else used?

I ask cause I've got a canvas I'll need to adhere to the wall, and I don't know if you remember but the walls aren't exactly flat.

    20221021_103301.jpg

My assumption of the job is, in its entirety -

    1. Flatten wall (insert stuff to use)

    2. Paint wall (I'll choose a paint to match the background of said canvas)

    3. Apply adhesive (I'll look up a popular, nice adhesive unless you guys have recommendations)

    4. Attach canvas

I sometimes wonder what percentage have succumbed to rust that were sold in the US.

And holy fuck, that thread you posted @eon_blue about the seats took a wild turn to lawsuits and employer conflict

I've seen a couple of rusty 3rd gen 4Runners that were brought in from somewhere out of state. The highway department uses sand out of the river instead of buying salt around here.

Wow, sounds like it was a unique setup. At least you enjoyed it while you had it

Anyone know if the 95-97 SR5 models are particularly sought after? I think they have a unique interior with the bus-style seats.

The front end is the best imo, lot of people do 95-97 front end swaps on the later years.

They're also harder to find, not just being older but Toyota never offered frame replacements for them...just bought them back and crushed them by the thousands

They used to use sand here too. Be nice if they stuck with that. I'm basically just under the cutoff of the real salt states, we rarely see snow and very rarely have the salted mix on the road. When we have I've usually just skipped driving that day. Except in my Cruiser, had a couple fun times in that but tried to get out before they started to really spread that stuff around. Salt air from the ocean is the only concern here, luckily FF exists.

What about those that have succumbed to rust, but are still on the road :bananadead:

And certainly still being sold to unsuspecting customers on used car lots, sadly

Saw a Mahindra Roxor completely rusted out down on the beach in South Padre. Wild considering how recent those things are.

I am glad they don't use salt in the Tahoe basin. Ever other vehicle up here is a Toyota. But as soon as you get out of the Tahoe water shed California uses salt all down 50 and 80 to Sacramento.

Oh for sure; I'm talking about the ones that are a literal hazard to both the person driving it as well as the people on the road that may be a possible victim in the event of a vehicle failure.

You know, I thought I woke up and chose violence everyday.

I think violence just chose me from the beginning.

2 options. Sand texture off (could try wetting and scraping, but painted texture is a bitch to scrape). Or, apply a skim coat of joint compound and sand smooth.

Either one is a pain, option 2 less so imo.
