Went thru a road construction area in the rain. My truck looked terrible. Stopped at a self wash......big mistake! All the hoses come off the ceiling and kinda lay on the roof of your truck. Put some small scratches on the roof of my 5 month old Tacoma that will be easily buffed out but I still feel like I took my baby to a $5 whorehouse. Never again! First carwash on it that I haven't done myself. Need a winter option as my hoses will be put away.

I wash the windshield, headlights, front windows, and rearview mirrors with the wiper at the gas station.

Other than that she gets washed when it rains

Since you seem like you care about your truck's paint, and the hoses hibernate, I'd recommend Optimum no rinse wash. Great product and all you need is a bucket w/ about 2-3 gallons of water and a chenille wash mitt.

It seems to be common around here, some place builds a fancy new wash, users it for a few years, some other company buys it and runs without maintenance. So there’s a lot of crappy ones.

Keep a spray bottle of ONR handy in the garage- it’s great for cleaning all sorts of things..

This post is misleading. It implies that rain is actually a thing in Bakersfield :D

Hand wash only unless it’s too cold then touchless automated.

    You're definitely not wrong.

I need to update that... Been out of Bakersfield for a while now. Something more along the lines of Cash's I've Been Everywhere is a more appropriate depiction of where I currently find myself in life...

I failed to make it out of the Bakersfield trap the first time I left. We'll see if it sticks this time. :D

Be careful, the horrendous air quality might trap you in.

Many of us have to make the auto-wash mistake once in our lives. I live in an apartment with a strict no wash rule so I got desperate and wasn’t very happy with the results of the auto-wash. Luckily where I live there are several hand wash places that do a great job. In south Texas, major freezes are a once in every ten years thing

Hoping you find a viable option for the winter months!

I tried washing my truck in the driveway once. Washed one panel at a time to keep water use down. Two different people turned around and crossed the street to complain to me. I hid in the garage until I left. Last time I washed in the driveway.

Thankfully I found one of the best coin op car washes I’ve ever used pretty close.

Just doing my job (pool service, cleaning filters) is frigging hassle. It seems like i have 10 people watching me at any given time.
    I had a lady call 911 on me a few weeks agoo_O

People are stupid. I really want to tell that I am allotted a certain amount of water a month and I can use it however I want.

I always loved people complaining to the county during a drought when they would see us doing FD training and drafting from the the river (and spraying it right back in...)

Same Karen would scream her head off if her house caught fire and the "FD didn't have enough training!".

Only place I'll consider in winter here is a self serve place, just pay the money and use the spray wand. Even at that I prefer not to.

no shit, you have adults sneaking car washes like they're little kids sneaking a cookie out of the jar

I just washed my truck on Thursday, maybe I will go wash it again today, and stop on the way home to buy another pistol and another scary rifle :D
