    Hey TW,

anybody have their dash lights fade/dim for a second or 2 then come back on full? It’s only the audio display and the middle portion above the steering wheel. The tac and speedometer stay fully lit.

Occurs a lot during dusk or dawn due to the sensor dimming the screens

    Oh look, another mod....
Yeah, this happens during dusk/dawn or if the area you're driving in gets dark or cloudy. There is a setting in the head unit that you can turn on or off for this to occur.

If it occurs randomly when it's constantly dark or constantly light, then you have an electrical short.

I spent an hour on a road trip once trying to figure out why my head unit was stuck on night mode even though the sun had come up (I'd been driving through the night).

My stupid coffee-deprived ass finally realized that a hat on the dashboard had slid over and was covering the ambient light sensor -- it's a small black dome on top of the dash on the passenger's side.

And that's how I learned what that dumaflache was for.

I've noticed the audio display dims during the daytime but not really at night--at least, I don't notice it at night.

The middle portion of the dashboard (above the steering wheel) does not dim at all--at least, I don't notice it.

But I do notice the audio display dim out of the corner of my eye.

I'll make sure to keep my hat or anything else off the dash so it doesn't cover the sensor!

I can't wait to adjust this now. This has been driving me nuts ever since I got my truck. It is so super sensitive especially in the early morning hours. Just driving under an overpass will make it flicker like it thinks I'm going into a tunnel or something. It's maddening.

Happens in tunnels as well depending on the lighting in the tunnel and the length of the tunnel. Bothersome to see.
