Has anyone else with the Inferno paint color have intense fading on the roof and hood? There is another Tacoma in my neighborhood whose paint is doing the same. Does Toyota warranty the paint, or are there any class action lawsuits on the Tacoma paint issues?

My inferno is doing fine . Only fading I have is on my driver side mirror cap. Which I understand cause my vehicle is stored outside in the elements

    Oh look, another mod....
The Toyota warranty covers paint defects such as flaking or peeling for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. However, it will not cover certain types of paint damage, specifically, if it's the result of wear and tear and not a manufacturer's defect.

I do live in Arizona, but I had a 2003 silver Tacoma with 245k miles on it when I sold it in 2018 to get this one, and other than a few rock chips, the paint was fine.

it might buff out. might want to get a professional to do it and maybe apply a ceramic/UV protective coating.

Id get a vinyl wrap on the roof and forget about it. But, id have been waxing and other things regularly. That looks like crap, sorry op.

I’ve been using Klasse paint protection. Not as regularly as I probably should have been, but I never had this problem in my old Tacoma. Another Inferno Tacoma in my neighborhood has the same fading, and this morning a landscaper came in a charcoal grey 3rd generation Tacoma, and his is fading even worse. It seems to be endemic to all newer Tacomas to me. Looks like Toyota is using some pretty crappy paint these days.

I use wolfgang paint sealant once or twice a year and every month or 2 i wax with collinite 845 or those newer spray waxes/ceramics like Turtle. I'll post a pic later but my 2017 paint has held up great with yearly TLC

I've had red toyotas in the past from 1978...all of them fade after a few years if kept outside 24/7. I've tried many different wax's, and none were really foolproof. They'd just prolong the inevitable. We have some great ceramic coating shops now that might be worth a try.

Red in general fades,,, or maybe shows the effects more, I don’t know.
OP’s pic looks like this has been going on for quite a while.

I think the more important issue is addressing surface contamination and proper prep before waxing or applying a paint sealant. Over the years i've found the best way to maintain a car's exterior is, like anything, the prep work. Just applying a wax will suffice, but you're only masking whats underneath the sealant. A yearly clay bar, polish, and then sealant guarantees your paint is the only bulletproof way. Yes, its definitely time consuming, but I've found waxes can only do so much, its kind of like spraying rustoleum over existing rust, eventually its gonna break thru again...

I agree, this has been going on for quite some time. OP, i'd just put a carbon fiber wrap on your hood and call it a day....
