I have the Toyota Tacoma Hi Rise Crossbars, for use with tonneau covers.
I want to temporarily put a ¾" sheet of plywood across the top of the cross bars. Then stack storage trunks on the plywood and tie-down to the surface of the plywood. What is the best way to attach the plywood to the bars?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ratchet strap but you gotta know how to do it. Gotta wrap all the way around the plywood and then hook both ends to bar. Only way I know.

Drill holes on both sides of Bars and zip tie. Then strap boxes

I like the u bolt opinion because of the strength of it. I think I will go with this (square shaped u bolts). This setup I will use to move footlockers and trunks of different sizes a ½ dozen times a year or more over long distances. Now I need to consider tie-down brackets, loop or strips to give me the most options to strap to.

You could also you the u bolts for tie downs. Find a d ring with a mount whole that will accept the ubolt stud. Place it between the ply wood and your nut to secure the u bolt.

Doing it this was allows you to place all upward Force on the cross bars and u bolts and not the plywood itself.

just be sure to wrap the u-bolts in something. once they're tight enough, they'll likely wrinkle the finish on the bed bars.
