Some FSR in the Sumter and Francis-Marion areas, all really tame. But the best and closest wheeling is at Gulches in Laurens, and then Uwharrie in NC if you want to drive a little further.

Ok thanks. I’ve been researching the fsr in Sumter. I know about Gulches was just looking for something close. My oldest daughter (6) really wants to go do some “off roading” so tame would work for now. Do you know how to access the fsr? Do you have to call, etc? Thanks for the help!

Access to the FSR is just there, usually a gravel road off another road. No clearance or anything required.

Speaking of FSRs have any of you Lowcountry people explored all the Ion swamp FSRs? I ventured a little ways down a couple but ran out of time doing some of the tighter ones.

I'm recently reading about Francis Marion national forest. It's only 45 minutes from Charleston. It seems to have some trails to ride around on.
