Good evening 'peeps !

I tried to hang the joist beams when I got home from work, the 1st one went into the pockets pretty good. The 2nd one teetered back and forth between the end posts ( like it was high centered on the middle post) I start measuring and found out that the 2nd one is only about 9 1/4" wide at one end, the damn thing was cut on a taper. Fook me! The 1st 2x10 also swells a bit in the middle to about 9 9/16". There's no making these damn things work so I guess that I need to drag the trailer to work and return these turds to the lumberyard after work and try to get 2 2x10's that are both cut to 9 1/2" wide.

 

Bummer. Home improvement projects seldom go smoothly for me. Hope you get the right ones.

 

For many decades, every home improvement project seemed to require the purchase of yet another specialized tool. I think I have a whole hardware store full of tools. Somewhere. The kids borrow them and I never see them again.

I hired a handyman to hang interior doors for me once. He was bitching up a storm about planing them to fit the not-really-square frames. I went in the basement and returned with a power planer. He asked, "Why do you even have this? Are you a woodworker?" "No, I used it when I hung the doors you're taking down. They were a bitch to fit to the not-really-square frames." He attempted to abscond forgot it was mine and accidentally put it on his tailgate with his other tools at the end of the job.
