    at least it's not shiting.

on a serious note, it would be nice if they gave us more programming updates for the transmission. they could at least unlock the ECU so we can tune it easier.

the transmissions are some of the best on the market, but yea, the programming is awful. it's like they want to force you to drive as slow as possible while everyone else on the road is doing the opposite. very annoying.

the man has a 2.7, not sure tuning can fix that.

the problem isn't the power, it's the shift points

I mean I guess...... But I feel like putting the shift point somewhere around red line still won't fix it.

Mine works good too, doesn't hold 6th on the highway going up hills, but I can't think of an auto trans vehicle that will hold its final OD gear going up hills so I don't complain. I'm even on 33s with no regear.

What ever happened to standard equipped manual transmission on lower models ? I’ve driven the same stretch several times now in my 22 2.7 I can maintain speed with very little shifting, give it +/- 1 or 2 mph and almost no shifting, turn on cruise and it’s shifting constantly.

I think it’s geared too high for one thing. In addition the ratios suck ass. Huge jump from fourth to fifth. Been thinking about 4.88 gears. Would definitely help with fifth and sixth on the highway but worry about how it might affect 1-4. S4 around town is fine and for the last couple years been 2/3 or more of the driving I do. 4.56 gears wouldnt screw with low range but not sure the extra 150 rpm at highway speed would do much.

I may be leaving the country for a couple months and will offer to send off my ecu to gain tuning support. Anyone done this or know the risk ?

I would disagree, if it was 400 ft lbs of torque at 2500 rpm it would not shift so often. Its more of a problem when people push the brick above 70 mph. I hardly ever do and havent really noticed it to be a issue.

Well, from my perspective, any vehicle, from a lowly Corolla to a Rolls Royce, is lesser if it has an automatic transmission. So yeah, "All y'all". :) :crapstorm:

I suggest putting it into 5th gear (locking out 6th) on the highway and most of the annoying shifting should be gone. 6th gear is ridiculously high and not needed in my opinion. It's likely there just to help with CAFE fuel economy tests. Also, try keeping it in 4th around town when you're not on the highway.

I've driven manuals and autos. There about the same IMO. I would most likely choose a manual if given the choice but not for any specific performance reason. Even then I end up kicking myself on road trips for it. If they have only autos on the car lot when I'm buying, I'm getting an auto. Not gonna wait for a manual.

I'm something of an odd duck, I want as much tech in my vehicles as I can get, AND a manual transmission for control. :)

The 2.7l 5MT disappeared after 2017. It was an odd move for many of us.

Cruise has different shift maps than when it is Off. Another dumb thing about the ECU programming. You could try using non-radar cruise control, as there are different maps for that also? Hold the On-Off button for 1.5sec and CC will turn on without the radar adaptive feature.

Not all that enamored with manuals unless it is a close ratio 4 or 5 speed connected to something high revving. As for trucks, I dont give a shit for a wide ratio manual.

To me it isn't an issue of performance, it is an issue of control; the only relatively modern automatic I've ever experienced which seems to get it right more often than not, is the ZF 8-Speed unit; even then I wouldn't have one in any car I own.

good point, if we’re using the adaptive (or whatever it’s called) cruise in metros, it’s gonna be constantly reacting,, thus shifting. I like the cruise, but it’s best outside the city,,, which is predominately where I use it.

If my poor truck isn't commuting around DFW, it's pulling the camper cross-country. Neither are appropriate for cruise. I've gotten to use it maybe twice.
