I am looking at adding S2 Sport pods as backup/work lights and was thinking of also mounting them facing the sides on the roof as camp/scene lights. Has anyone mounted S2 pods directly to the roof rack mounting locations? or should i find a light bar holder and mount to that?

You can mount them directly to the holes, but you’d need to add a spacer since the channel is recessed and the s2 mounting bracket wouldn’t sit flush.

Thanks, I don’t have the lights yet but I was thinking I might need something to raise them up a bit to get the tilt right as well. A light bar mount or rails would both work, I want to keep the roof a clean as possible. My other thought was to use ditch mounts and face them to the sides. Reading some other threads it seems like those might not be high enough for my use, any thoughts for those with side mounted work/camp lights?

My honest thoughts are that ditch lights and bed lights look a lot cleaner than rack-less roof lights. And easier to both mount and wire to boot.

Saw a security patrol car with two lightbars mounted facing out parallel down the roof- super-cringe.

Cleanest thing I’ve seen is the Prinsu Ridgeline handles- but I’ve been able to convince myself I don’t need them .. yet.
