I’m considering the TuRD exhaust system. Previously I had a FlowMaster series 50 delta and loved the sound but it was a touch annoying during constant stop and go; just make the truck sound like it was trying too hard to keep up. During normal driving, it was amazing. I already bought another one before I got the truck but I’ve been enjoying the quiet.
…yet I still want some sound.
All that being said, I think the TRD setup would be right in my area of interest.
Now I would love for some feedback and experience. I know it’s overpriced, I know it’s quiet but if I can find one on a BST or lightly used I might jump on it.

I personally don't think any exhaust sounds good on our trucks. But the TRD is one of the best sounding ones if you do want one.

Finally.. someone who calls it the TRD exhaust instead of the TRD Pro exhaust (that shit drives me nuts).

Moving on, it's nice for what it is, but expensive and expensiver to ship. Sounds clean but a little lackluster imo. If you use your truck at all for offroading.. which it looks like you do, you might benefit more from something high clearance that won't get hung up on things. I had this debate a while back and ended up going with the MF Overland series instead due to its high clearance design and customizable noise options. No drone with this setup but you can hear it when you put your foot down. Very pleased with it.

Thank you for giving your opinion. Obviously you must also be fond of it from the low noise level.

Just buy an intake. Noise when you want it, quiet when you want it.

I was more or less talking about an AFE style intake. Make the intake noise much more noticeable. The TRD is mainly just a different top the the OEM airbox.

TRD exhaust on my truck sounds decent, I was pleasantly surprised when I started the truck for the first time. No drone and loud enough to hear it without becoming anywhere close to annoying. The exhaust tip is giant however and looks like it will find a rock or other obstruction in the future. Plan on cutting it aft of the axle at some point.

Yeah, its a combo of not wanting a loud droning exhaust because its my DD and V6s just don't sound good to me. The TRD give a little extra growl without being too annoying.

Whatever they go for, IDR, but less shipped than TRD's pre-shipped price.

I considered the TRD exhaust too and ultimately installed the FM 50 series delta like you, and had the same feedback as you did. Then I got the Overland Torque Tune and fell in love with the Flowmaster again! :burnrubber:

You will not be disappointed in TRD or Borla S type catbacks. Very similar sounding exhausts, Borla is a hair louder. No drone when cruising with both.

What about the tune made you more fond of the FM?

I had the KDMax pro on my previous Tacoma and plan on tuning very soon again.

I've considered the TRD Performance Exhaust (the real official name lol) but I just can't bring myself to pull the trigger and drop $869 on something that's not going to make that much of a difference. I could be wrong.

Oh I know it isn’t gonna make any real difference but I like the look and I really want an alteration to the sound. And yes it is VERY expensive.

I drive mostly city streets. You can hear the improved shift points when accelerating. Sounds great whether you're driving normal or if you're pissed off at the guy who just cut you off. Before when stock/ECT/KDMax I experienced over-rev when downshifting, or hesitation when accelerating hard...and the FM muffler made those flaws more pronounced.

Mine obviously came with the truck but I don't love it enough that I would spend money on one if it didn't have one. I don't hate it enough that I'd swap it out either.

I just never cared for V6 noises.

TRD sounds good but like you said is pricey. The only exhaust im considering atm is the Stromung tucker. It’s not obnoxiously loud from what I can tell and you at least get some clearance

I get it. If the sound is important to you then by all means. For me, I can upgrade my tires for about the same price as the exhaust. I'm riding on the OEM Toyo A30s and I'm not impressed. I just have to figure out a way to explain to the Mrs. why I'm replacing tires on a truck with 8k miles on it lol.
