I'm not a believer in locking tuners.
I've tried Schaller and Sperzel. IME, they don't stay in tune any better than regular quality tuners. I wrap 1 above and 2 below.

Little trick I learned; never tune down to a note, always tune up. Takes up the slack...

Progress made on the Telecaster body. A little preview. First attempt at working with Alder. It's very soft and pourus. This is the color scheme I think. The other side is flame maple.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

Thanks, Alder is kinda weird to blend with dye because it's like a sponge, but it's the back so is what it is. I may try to blend it more, it's hard because of how this wood reflects light. Straight on it's pretty sweet, on the side it looks different. But it's the back so yeah, will look good with some Tru oil on it I think.

Really nice work on the burst. Got it nice and dark at the edges, but without turning opaque.
I don't think there's any need to blend more, looks to me like you nailed it.

given any consideration to torching the surface rather than staining? the burn will make the grain stand out, sand the surface to remove the soot afterwards. Just a thought...

I'm currently thinking of buying a guitar, and you guys inspire me so much. It was my biggest dream since childhood. Even though my parents were poor and we couldn't buy a guitar, I dreamed about myself on a stage performing for others. We all have those dreams as children, and some forget about them, but some do their best to achieve these goals. I'm the second kind of person because I start having my lessons in a month after so much time. I ordered a guitar and now waiting for the shipping. Also, I ordered several best guitar accessories and hope they'll arrive soon. So I want to tell you guys that you shouldn't forget about your dreams and make them a reality.

Just be mindful that the wood can warp. Heating both sides evenly may help, but I guess you really only get one shot to nail it!

Yes or using black grain filler. The method I use is pretty similar. I hit it with a dark dye then sand it all off leaving the figure dark. Then I apply the pattern. I have not tried the filler method, but I like the torch idea more.

The front is going to be interesting with maple. Lots of figure and some flame mixed in.

My luck I would ruin it haha! Definitely would need to experiment with something prior. Plus if it's a two piece the center where it's glued is going to be an issue.

Pretty happy with this. I worked did a few changes after this shot. There is a lot of brown that is not showing up because my camera sucks. The flame looks great. Can't wait to hit it with some TruOil.
