go for the x994, it has a better warrenty, better dac for the usb input, x994 you can change the color of the display to match the dash, and it has a five band eq on board where the bt945 does not.

Thanks...The 995 seemed newer but the 994 looks like the better unit...

both units are 2010 models, the kdc-x994 is the top of the excelon line from kenwood which is kenwoods step up products, where the kdc-bt945 is the top of the regular line from kenwood

One thing to keep in mind with the 994, is its glossy screen... I had the 993, and it was almost impossible to read in the day time (glare). iPod control is fairly simple. The Parrot bluetooth is hard to beat, it was great! Overall the deck can do a lot, you just gotta figure it all out first.

Anyone use an iPhone 4 with the 994? I have been looking at this HU, I really like the 22 RMS because I want to initially upgrade my HU and front speakers and see if I am happy with that, so the extra power I really like. But I see on Crutchfield it doesn't list the iPhone 4 as being compatible. Could it be their info just isn't up to date yet?

as far as when connected to the usb yes it will pass the audio through the connection and be able to control it, the only thing I'm not sure about is charging because apple changed the iphone4 to a 1amp charging system (I believe) At least this is what I was told by my kenwood rep (I sell kenwood) the replacement for the x994 the x995 will infact support the charging of the iphone4 and all other ipods. But I haven't actually tried the iphone4 with the x994 so I can't say with certain that it won't charge....
