Sorry if this has been covered (I looked but didn't see this precise issue). I have a 2015 tacoma with stock radio (no nav) I've owned since new and no mods. Like the caption says, recently my radio and display appears to shut off when I shut off the truck and remove the key but immediately powers back on as if I've turned the key back on. I tried disconnecting bluetooth, turning off audio and screen but it still drained my battery. The only thing I can do is pull the Short pin to cut off power to it. Dealer tech said it was likely a short in the radio itself and then tried to sell me the one from his truck. Where should I take it to get this resolved?

Dealer tech sounds correct. Factory radios tend to last 7-8 years, from reports around here. Stock replacement is $$$, and quality isn’t there. Go to www.Crutchfield.com. Put in year/make/model and they show you what fits. They also provide all the connectors and kits to install. To top it off, customer service/support is top notch.

When the key is removed and the radio on, check if your cigarette lighter sockets have power. If they do, the problem may be related to your ignition switch (i.e. still in ACC when turned off) rather than the radio.

Just to close the loop in case anyone comes on here for the same issue. I did the cigarette lighter check and there was no power to it after I turned off the ignition. So I removed the stock radio and the battery did not drain when I turned off the truck anymore so I assumed it was the radio and bought a new Kenwood from crutchfield. Problem solved. I kept the stock radio and all the parts because I like it better. I may get someone to try to fix it sometime. Thanks for the advice.
