have a 2015 DBLC. Have a pioneer head unit, (35 watts?). Rockford Fosgate componants in front and RF 3 way in rear doors. I need a little more bass. Dont want to go full blown amp, sub, new speakers. Looking at a powered sub. Crutchfield has a house brand Sound Ordinance for a good price. Have allowed myself $300. also looking at the kicker and the Bazooka. Any thoughts or suggestions? Dont want to waste my money. The house needs work before i go crazy with stereo.
Are they worth it for what i want. I listen to all kinds of music, but rock is my go to. The loundness of radio is sufficient for now. Thinking if i had the sub, i could lower the bass on speakers and go a little louder without to much distortion.

I had the Sound Ordnance and loved it; installed it under the drivers seat so it was out of the way. I actually just upgraded to a different setup and it’s for sale if you’re interested in it.

Was hoping to put behind rear seat in storage area. I like the price.

Itll definitely fit there with no problems. I put mine under the seat so I wouldn’t take up usable real-estate elsewhere.

Well finally finished install. Put sound deadening all across rear of cab. Probably a little overkill but I had it to use. Put 5 inch spacers under sub to raise up and was able to secure sub to storage bin. Went to a local install shop and had him tune it. It sounds great and did what I wanted. Am still able to use some of the left storage bin and all of the right.

Do you still like the JBL Bass Pro Nano? Can you share the settings you're using? TIA!

Went with the Bass pro2 instead of the nano. Am very happy with it. Had someone set all nmy settings in headunit. Basically turned off the time alottment, and other settings that i didnt really need with my set up. That lone made a huge difference. Input load on sub is at 10k and phase is at 180. level is at almost max bass boost is low at this time. Still playing with that and bass knob on dash. Im not rattling other peoples windows, but for what i have into the system i am very happy for now. Will probably be blowing my speakers this year and upgrading for a cleaner sound. Am running Rockford Fosgates in all 4 doors.

Excellent info! Do you have OEM JBL? (This is the first Toyota I've had without a JBL system in a while.) If not I'm curious as to which speaker wire output you used for the sub or if you used a separate one from the amp or head unit. I have the recommended Subaru Kicker tweeters in a box and will probably order door speakers soon. I've always had good luck with Rockford Fosgates, JBL and Kicker. Don't need to rattle the neighbors windows either. :D Just starting down this road. TIA!

I had the basic headunit from toyota, no gps or sub. Had xm and steering wheel controls and phone. Went with pioneer head unit, 50 watts from 5 watts factory. Did the metra control modules to keep the wheel controls and phone. Just cant bring up phone from wheel. can answer and hang up. Everything else is from the H U. Did rock components in front door with unadjustable crossover. Didnt want another button to deel with and im not that savy with all the settings. Did roc 3 way in the rear door just for sound filling. Most of what i hear is from front. With all that and the Basspro 2. I am satisfied for now. Sound deadning seemed to help a lot also. If only i won the 1.3 billion mega ball.......

    Great info!

I've replaced the head units in almost everything I've owned for years (most recently with a Pioneer also) but this time I think I'm going to stick with the OEM for now. I like being able to access some of the information that I'd lose with a replacement. The OEM amp's power seems adequate and with new speakers and a powered sub I think it'll be fine.

Also a big fan of FatMat's RattleTrap for sound deadener. Makes a big difference in the cabin as well as improved audio, especially bass. I usually add Boom Mat speaker baffles as well.

BTW, were you able to use the existing backup camera with your Pioneer? IIRC there were some issues with other models a few years ago and folks had to install their own backup camera, but that may not apply for our trucks.

    Thanks again!

Nice. I think it had something to do with the OEM backup cam’s power level but that was with other, older Toyota models.

I usually use Pandora or my music library from my iPhone so wouldn’t miss XM.

I’m going to need to sort out the input for the powered sub since I’m not changing the head unit. Probably just tap into one of the speaker wires.

    Thanks again!

What is your 5 inch spacer made of? Literally looking to install your same set up.

Anyone with a JL 10” TW3 ever compared that to this RT-P300? (Had the JL before and can’t imagine anything being close.) The JL with pretty much any amp is going to be at least double the price. Trying to keep $$$ spent down. Is the RF powered at least a reasonable replacement given the $$$ savings?

Yes, I've heard the 8" RF and it will pound. The JL Stealthbox sounds good, but is overpriced for what it does imo.

I might ponder over this a while. I’m trying to avoid spending $2k on a full system. Got the kicker tweeter upgrade…I might try that RF setup. Thanks.

All i was able to find when i was in the middle of this was a piece of 1.5 X 1.5 ash wooden post from home depot. Cut to size, painted matte black. Secured bottom and top pieces from behind. Installed storage unit, then screwed sub to the blocks and connected wires. I had to mount the sub upside down so I could access the adjustments. Sounds good with the seat up or down. I also left the back of the seat on. Some have removed. I hear no reason to do that.
