Looking to buy a new basic Tacoma 2.7 auto work truck. I'm needing something that will last about 10 years with high mileage.

I know the 2.7 is a great engine. Is there any issues with the auto transmission on this model or any other concerns/recalls, etc?

    Oh look, another mod....
Nope. None. That engine and tranny will last you at least 390k miles. Good luck!

    Nope.
Just remember, it is heavy for a 4 cyl so that means slower than other trucks. It will last.

I loved my SR with the 2.7 until I went camping, with hilly highway driving and some gear loaded up it’s a dog I wish I had got a V6 I’d lose my ass if I traded it in.
So I suppose if you aren’t adding weight and hills you’ll be fine. The 2.7 is a half a million mile motor.
Car Care Nut on YouTube says he really can’t say how hard it is to work on the 2.7 because he’s never had to

It isn’t that the 2.7 is slow, the 3.5 just isn’t fast.

it's a workhorse engine that's known for it's durability. you can rev the piss out of it every day, all day, and it will last a million miles with proper maintenance.
