    Hello Everyone,

Just bought out the lease on my 2017 TRD Sport Tacoma a couple weeks ago and when I went out a few days back on a frosty Canadian morning, the heated mirrors stopped working.

Actually I think the problem is they won't stop working, lol, because that circuit killed my battery.

I got a new battery and when I checked the circuit by testing current draw between the negative battery cable and the battery I found a draw of about 5.5A with everything shut off. When I pulled the heated mirror fuse the reading dropped to about 0.4A.

Since the light went off on the dash when the mirror heat shut off after the usual time period I suspect there may be an issue with the relay itself, but I can't find it.

Would anyone know where that relay may be located?

    Thanks in advance,
    David.

No, behind the panel where the switches are, lower left of steering wheel.

I just tested the relay on a bench and it seems to be working okay.

What are the chances it released when I pulled it?

Probably best to replace it, Right?

Wouldn't hurt. But it's negatively actuated. The tie into the A/C amplifier is a signal to ground. AFU = All F****D Up!

Reinstall it and check if the indicator on dash returns...

I think I will just order a replacement for it. If they were a bazillion dollars that would be something different.

Do you any other relays in the area, seat heater or cargo lamp one?...you could swap one and verify if it still stays actuated.

Yes there are the 3 you showed in the picture (no heated steering wheel). That's a good idea, but I think I will replace it anyway.

The schematic you posted shows a coil for the trigger side, but the area looks kind of dark and I can't tell if it's cooked or some kind of KY or something.IMG_1012[1].jpg

yup! that looks very toasty...replace it. But you still don't know if that's the "only" issue. Maybe it is.

Amazon sells a pair of them, even with the Toyota labels (for what that's worth) for under $20 CAD. Definitely will replace it and even have a spare, apparently.

The seat heaters seem okay so hopefully the main A/C amp is okay.
