His dad—who is your electric provider? Look at their website- typically the electric providers offer smart thermostats at bargain basement prices.

Sometimes you have to enroll in "surge levels" for those. IE it's 95 degrees today, they're going to limit your AC to a more reasonable temperature. Or heat the same way. Etc etc. Being tied into the internet they can do that.

You don't have to opt in though.

You didnt tell us what you set your house to. There's a screenshot from your sauna.

Overnight is 60 for us. We have heated mattress pads my wife uses all the time, I do sometimes. Daytime is 65ish depending.

National Grid. When they actually provide electricity. Which is why we have a whole house generator, but that's a different story.

I'll check their website and see what they offer.

That's the problem with something connected to the Internet.

That’s how mine is. Now I set a time and temp for 14 different times. All the same temperature. I gave up trying to “sleep” the heat a few years ago.

My mother had one of the first generation of programmable thermostat. She could never figure it out, so she called me when the battery needed changing or it needed to be reprogrammed. It took me forever and it seemed that the commands took totally at random. I know that they are a lot better now, but I still remember how much I hated that.

Have you signed up for MassSave before? They have deals on thermostats. The Nest E was 10 bucks, hence why I tried that first. They do have 1-2 Honeywell options

We have. We got an interest free loan for a new boiler in 2013, and a huge discount on upgrading the insulation in the house in 2021.

Our state had incentives on insulation but that’s it.

For those like me, there's also a NH saves. Not surprisingly, there's less options on it.

Anyone watch All quiet on the Western Front?

Pretty glad my woes are truck mod related and not what they had to deal with.

Here's how easy programming the Honeywell is. The "grouped days" thing let's you pick weekdays and weekends and like I talked about my wife with her Wednesday 5am wake ups it can be set earlier that day.

Awesome so you should have access to their marketplace store which has multiple thermostat options. Be warned it took almost three weeks for processing before they shipped!

My boiler zone controllers are ancient and had no means of accepting a c wire, as far as I could tell. So, I bought three of these:

    https://smile.amazon.com/Venstar-ACC0436-2-Wire-24VAC-Thermostats/dp/B00755BZZC?sa-no-redirect=1

One of the reviews has a diagram that matches how I wired it up:

    upload_2022-10-30_10-1-42.jpg

My Honeywell T5 allowed me to just run the pair of wires from a 24vac transformer through the wall to the thermostat, but the Nests I got didn't have enough terminals for the same approach to work and this was the solution. It's been working well for a few years now.

It's a little primitive, but I just ran everything into and out of a junction box for each zone:
    upload_2022-10-30_10-7-56.jpg

And I mounted a power strip for the transformers to power each thermostat near the boiler:
    upload_2022-10-30_10-8-56.jpg

When I did this, I also moved my main thermostat into the hallway. Before, it was in the dining room and would read 99 degrees many afternoons because the sun from the windows would shine directly on it.
