So i have a 2010 taco dclb, stock six disc head unit, Audiofrog GS60s in the doors, stock otherwise
Something happened and now the bottom passenger side is cutting out/muffling much of the mids - lows. The speaker still plays but not much and it's kinda muddy sounding. I can still play music and at a decent volume but it's bad enough an issue that i don't want to at all.
I did some troubleshooting already like switching the speakers and tweeters to opposite sides(both individually and together); no issues with the speakers on opposite sides so they're fine. Checked the wiring on the doors as much as i could without pulling the covering. From what i can tell everything is getting power as it should (take that with a grain of salt, electronics is a weak spot of mine). Only thing i haven't tried so far that i could do pretty easy is playing from a different phone; aux cord is fine.
The speakers on the rear door are stock so i always just ran the fade to the front all the way to cut them out since i don't even run the rear seats anyway. Bass at like 2 and the speed adjuster thing on the medium setting. Volume never above 26ish iirc. I was on the highway one day and in the span of like a minute the bass started cranking up and then a bit of a pop sound and now that missing mids issue ever since. Pretty sure it's the head unit causing all this. My guess is some kind of clipping issue from having all the power to the front doors but idk how that'd be enough assuming the audio isn't much different in regular cabs n shit. Also of note: there was a few times before this where the volume and backlight on the little screen would float around kinda randomly for a few minutes here and there. And my battery is a Antigravity LiFePO battery but it hasn't caused any other issues, just thought i'd mention just in case.

So my question is: Is there more trouble shooting i can do to figure out the issue more precisely so i don't waste time or money trying to fix it? Is it something i can fix with minimal cost/parts replacement? If it came down to something like pulling apart the head unit and re-soldering spots or something like that, i would prefer to do that over replacing parts. This setup satisfied me for now and i don't really want to spend much like a new head unit if i don't have to for now
    Appreciate any input

Check another input like CD or FM. If the problem persists that rules out your phone and AUX cord. I would also balance the fader and check the issue is not present in the rear, if so, that isolates the issue to either that amplifier channel in the radio or a wiring issue somewhere before the speaker.

i'm not clear on your troubleshooting steps.

so you swapped the door speakers from side to side and the problem stayed on the passenger side?

yea like started with switching the tweeters only cause they have those little capacitors attached. First thought was one of those burnt out or somethin. Then just the 6s switched, and then both switched
Got it figured out so it was all in vain but no worries

Fuckin prescient you are man! Tried a cd and no issues; that cleared my head quite a bit. So i went and started from the beginning with a different phone. Better but not great. Cleaned the aux ports on both my phone and the truck, and the issue is gone. After all that fuss it was just a little bit of dust/dirt that crept it's way into the aux ports  Still kinda odd to me that it caused such a consistent problem haha
Kicking myself for not starting my previous trouble shooting at the most basic source like that. I know to do that with anything else but with this i didn't for some reason
Oh well, i'm happy to have the problem solved. Thanks for your advice!!:hattip:
