Hey guys, did a lot of work over the summer I wanted to share.

it all started with a fresh set of front fenders and bed skins from a member here way back in 2019…needless to say it’s was a bit of a can of worms and I put a lot more work and $$$ than I expected but the truck looks great and feels brand new again.

Good old Ontario salt did a number on the original fenders even with years of undercoating.

    New vs. Old.

color match was nearly perfect for two 20 year old fenders from different parts of the world.

Then it was onto removing the bed. Pretty straightforward unless you live in Ontario where again things rust. I ended up cutting 4 of 6 bed bolts to remove the bed and found way more than I bargained for. Mostly surface rust but the centre support was pretTy bad. I ended up cuttin most of it off and welding 1/4” c channel back in.

Got the grinder and sand blaster out and took all the rust off. Painted and bed liners the entire bottom of the bed. Unfortunately I didn’t take pics of it because I was pretty tired of cleaning and painting.

During all this body restoration I had a leaking gas tank so I order a new one from Toyota ($$$) along with purge valves and related gas line hoses, tank strap , filler neck and new evap can since it was easier to get at sans bed.
I had this problem of the truck not pumping gas at full speed and could figure it out. For years I just put up with the slow filling as I had already replaced the cap, evap and tank previously and was out of ideas.
After I installed all the new fuel parts I went to fill it to see if it fixed the problem but it still wouldn’t fill full speed. Turns out it was a faulty (rock auto) evap can from new. Got it replaced under warranty and eureka! It fills full speed!

Fresh welded fenders! Lined up well! More small parts for the flairs from Toyota…the costs is skyrocketing with all the little clips and hardware

Decided to replace the stock front bumper with a coastal off-road. Had a friend spot weld then fully weld the bumper up. Very nice kit although it did cost way more than expected after his service and powdercoating
