What model Tacoma do you have? Only the Off Road had the skid plate you are referring to. You can add it. All the mounting holes are there to bolt it up.

There isn’t a rear one on my 17 OR.
All mine had was that thin splash guard, def not a skid by any means and the plastic one on the gas tank.

I bought the rci full aluminum set, engine to transfer case and also the gas tank skid.

    Sure thing.
There are a lot of good options that might be just a bit more dollars than the oem splash guard.
They usually come in three sections, you can get the coverage you want.
This is the set I have, 3 individual parts.
    Bottom is the oem.

The TRD Pro has a 1/4” aluminum skid plate. The TRD off-road has two pieces of thin sheet metal which I don’t think even Toyota calls a skid plate. The others have a single piece of sheet metal that is the same as the front piece on the off-road.

The TRD Pro skid plate fits on the other trims and can be purchased from Toyota and other places for around $400. There are also numerous aftermarket skid plates made of steel and aluminum.
