I wired up my 3rd brake light last night using crimped spades for quick disconnects, so I could remove the shell without the need to cut wires. However, since this area is exposed to the elements, I'm thinking that I should I protect it from moisture? I was thinking that I'd just slide a larger diameter heat shrink tube over and past the spades, and then heat and tape off the ends, but maybe there's an entirely different type of connector that would be better for this purpose?

Also, I used Quick Splices for tapping into the lines. As you can see in the first photo, I have them "protected" by wrapping them in electrical tape, which is obviously not ideal. What's the best way to go about sealing them off? Or, again, is there a better type of connector?

Ended up replacing the crimped spade disconnects with crimped bullet disconnects and the quick splices with crimped closed end connectors, and then shrink wrapping everything.
