Went to the shop to check on her..Should be ready by the end of this week.

Color match is pretty on point. I’ll have to look it over some more on a sunny day once I have it in my possession.

Finally finished up my under-hood LED install. I used:

    For the lights/switch:
    KC Cyclone Under-Hood Kit

    Pivot Mounts:
    Tripod Clip Clamp Mounts

Miscellaneous splices, heat shrink, extra wire, corrugated split loom, etc.

Unbolted the pivot mounts from the tripod clamps and threw the clamps away. Bought some hardware to fasten the pivots to some unused hood holes and some hardware to fasten the KCs to the pivots.

Eventually may use a tilt or spring loaded switch for automatic turn-on with the hood, but I’ve never had great results with those lasting very long so I opted to keep it simple for now. Mostly will be nice for oil changes or other maintenance + things like wiring projects.

@BajaHoncho thats rather impressive. I’ll have to follow your build thread.

Just curious, why use a brand new truck for all that work? Wouldn’t it have been cheaper with an older/used truck?

Yeah, I’ve purchased new vehicles before and torn into it but nothing like @BajaHoncho. It is pretty sweet and curious to see how this turns out.

I would guess less rust = easy to undo bolts = saves a lot of shop time

FYI: my driver's started to condensate like 3-4 months later. They sent me a replacement (free), just keep an eye on them. Swapping out just the fog is easier though later.

Lmao that's just great man, love it

Hidden winch installed, but completely accessible. I’m pretty proud of how it came out, almost like I knew what I was doing.

Just some FYI notes. Pay the small difference for CAPA certified which are, by insurance standards, the closest quality to OEM. Check the shipping cost before you commit. Also price the required scoop components. Know the total cost before you order. I assume you have watched/searched the hood swapping thread with no luck. For what it's worth, if you buy a used non-color matching hood, you will spend around $500 for a complete quality strip/prime/paint/seal job. I was searching that site for a scooped hood for my 2nd gen but, unfortunately, they had no scooped hoods due to supply chain issues. You will also be able to sell your flat hood for $350 to $450+. I had my flat hood and roof quality shop stripped and painted for $985 total. Also look at national used part sellers. They usually include free shipping and are the best OEM color matched parts to your original paint. When you receive a shipped new painted hood you really cannot check the color match when they offload it. If it is a shade off you will not know until it is next to, or mounted on, your truck. Getting one painted at a local quality shop insures color matching and they guarantee that. Not sure what an aftermarket company would do if your new hood, even the correct color code, is not a perfect match to your truck. If you know a good paint shop it may be a better option, considering the total cost, to simply buy a hood with only primer paint and get a guaranteed local paint job.

    Nice work!

I'm sure it is on your list, but I'd do something about this:

    upload_2022-10-31_22-1-17.jpg

bend or grind that tip at 45 degrees and/or make a rubber boot or something. It's just going to make noise and rust.

BTW: I didn't know "Virginia is for lovers"! And so we learn...
