Toyota Announces new TrailHunter Edition Trucks at SEMA '22

Looks like Toyota is going after the GMC AT4 potential customers whom want a trail ready truck out of the box ready to go - Toyota TrailHunter Edition. Their Tundra was unveiled which looks like a nice sized lift, wheels/tires and a bedrack outfitted for gear. Guessing the Tacoma will get the same treatment whenever that gets unveiled.

I wonder how the Trailhunter trim compares to TRD Pro... I saw that they have reservoirs, skids, and steel bumpers so I imagine its an even higher trim.

I was watching a YouTube video this morning on the Ford Rator R and it started at $109k +/- MSRP

 

I am watching a tfl video on the tundra now. But yes it will prob be over 100k cdn

The tail gate isn't stamped I find that ugly. Could just be the prototype

Was it confirmed this would actually go on sale? This looks like a SEMA build concept.
Didn’t they do a similar desert runner 22 Tundra last year?

edit: I mean with all the off road goodies shown above…or will it just have a badge and some skid plates and maybe some menial suspension tweaks like the Tacoma Trail

 

Geez but the front end of the new Tundra is hideous.

Thats the only way you can get recovery hooks on a Tundra

 

wow if the seqoia comes like from factory is going to be a killer. imagine getting an overlander from factory and having a warranty on it.

 

It's a mild overlanding build, if Toyota could build this truck on a regular cab short box configuration that would be cool. Something like a GM 2.7t, or Ram classic 3.6 PS, that even has a rear coil suspension like the Tundra. Outfitted like the Tundra that would be cool. The shorter wheel base would be better on the trail IMO. Plus a $50k truck vs a $70k truck is cheaper to build, and when you are sleeping in that tent. You'll rest easy knowing you could have spent 20k more, for the same experience.

 

I can't wait to hear the instagram hero's that buy this trim complain about their fuel mileage with the lift and tent sticking up in the air....its coming...

 

Depends on how they price it, if they make a 2023 Tacoma Trail Hunter based on a TRD Pro with those bumpers, racks, RTT and price at $65k, I can see someone who can just buy it and call it good without having to do any mods.

 

Personally I think that it looks great.
