    ...which reminds me

    Story Time With Gritto

Many years ago ('70s), I ran into Yvon Chouinard in the campground at Seneca Rocks, WV.
Or more accurately, a guy walked past our campsite and told us he was there.
A truly legendary French alpinist, there was even a line of rock climbing gear with his name on it (carabiners and stuff).

He was getting up in years (or so it seemed to my young, callow self).
He had arms and legs that looked like bundles of steel wires.
Man did he ever look hard core.
We were too awestruck to even ask him why he was there at Seneca Rocks.
Mind you, it's probably the best, most concentrated rock climbing east of the Rockies, so I guess there's the answer.

Truthfully, I never amounted to anything as a rock climber... life got in the way.

Yeah, I've been meaning to get some limbs out of the yard and trim some bushes now that it's cooler . But I'll probably take a nap.

Too much soda will do that.

    Good
    No
    Absolutely, more than tattoos.

I've been out to Monkey Mtn and back. Took out gates, panels, and fencing for the "Sandlot" (aka future stable and horse pen) on my flatbed trailer. Down for before work nap in a bit.

some years ago I met Jim Bridwell, the late 60’s and 70’s Yosemite wild man. He was certainly older, but he still looked like he could steal your girlfriend, polish off a bottle of whisky or bust out of a Thai prison without breaking a sweat…

    old school hardcore.
