The cardboard has nothing to do with filtration, it is just a structural element in the filter itself.

    According to FRAM:

A common misunderstanding among our customers concerns the end disks in the oil filter. These disks hold the glue which keeps the pleated media formed into a rigid circular tube. The glue-to-media interface is also one of the sealing surfaces keeping dirty and filtered oil from mixing.

I think you need to do a better google search buddy as it seems you haven't done much of any. You seem to be confusing the orange can with the ultra since the cardboard end caps is just to hold the filter media in place which I still would not use. You are the one who needs to provide evidence since you brought it up.

I change the air in my tires twice a year, is that too often?

That isn’t enough. Air goes stale in a 30 days. I’d change it monthly. :fistbump:

I picked up an XG3600 today, not gonna lie. I won’t need it till the end of the year, but I will say it does have a very nice construction internal and external. Pretty excited to run it!

    Thread revival.

I ran the XG3600 for 2,686 miles. During that time I noticed zero difference in absolutely anything. Nothing negative to report, and, I have something good to report, actually. When I went to remove the filter during my most recent oil change, that grip texture that's on the filter, man, let me tell you that is a nice, nice touch. Not even kidding. I'm tempted to start exclusively using them now. I'm back to a D3 for now.

In terms of the OCOD, the only difference between the PH3600 and the XG3600, according to Fram's website, is filter media. OCOD is a cellulose/synthetic blend whereas the XG is a synthetic media. OCOD has a 95% filtering efficiency rate and the XG has a 99% efficiency rating at 20 microns. OCOD did not specify a micron range.

    So there's that little update.

It is now November and you should have switched out the summer air for winter air by now.

Same here: Toyota OEM oil filters at Walmart. +- $7.00: Just make sure you check the contents before you leave the store. One time I got home home only to discover the Toyota filter had been swapped out with a >Fram<. I didn't notice the little strip of tape on the end of the box had been compromised. Went back with my receipt and the nice lady shook her head and said the problem is very common. Lesson learned.

This happened tonight. Won't be using it for another few months but I will be trying it out at my next oil change. We'll see how it does for a 5K OCI (and it's rated for 10K)
