defiantly get an itemized quote,,, the more they push back, the more you know you are paying in market adjustments and for those fancy wheels n tires.
But remember to compare to other's today pricing, some are livening in 2018 telling you what they paid for things before,,,, well we all know.

Why would you be defiant about it? Are you trying to liven things up?

Jabs aside, you have a good point on pricing. In some areas you can still get a bit of a discount below MSRP for anything but a Pro, and in others, it is MSRP or more no matter what you are buying. Always best to check around and see if travelling is going to save you money. I'd rather take a 1000 mile road trip with a buddy and burn $1,000 on travel expenses than pay a $5,000 mark up that is only 300 miles away.

This is also true, but there are floor planning costs - both flat fees and interest - for their unsold units. The higher the number of vehicles and the longer they sit, the more it costs them. Again just my opinion, but I think the first thing you'll see is the market adjustments begin to disappear. My local dealer was charging 10% of MSRP, now they are down to $1,995 per unit. I do think that the days of significant discounts below MSRP are gone forever though.

Well if nobody pays the adjustment it will go away. It's like losing free money, you don't want to lose it but, if you do it's not a real loss. I saw a non Toyota vehicle listed with a $125.00 market adjustment.

I think the real back up of vehicles would be at the ports where distributors would have to rent space for vehicle storage.

If... if there was a back log of unsold units the distributor could work something out with the dealer, to free up port space and avoid paying that high rent.

Dealer finds the vehicle they want to sell they buy the vehicle, and it's already there on their property, all they do is take possession and sell the unit. Maybe even collect a storage fee from the distributor, or manufacturer.

I don't think it works that way, but it could.

I vote we just get rid of dealers on the sales side completely. Do it like Tesla does it....have service centers where you take delivery and come for service, sell directly online. I know I shouldn't wish for things that aren't nice but after the last almost 3 years of dealer fuckkery I wouldn't shed a tear watching them all close their sales department doors.

    Not how it works.

This should give an idea. Not exact, but it's entertaining and explains it using motorcycles.

Yeah I don't think what I said is how it works.

but inflation, recessions and it's not officially a recession yet which means the recession will become worse. The name of the game is to limit your spending power. Until that motive lifts consumers won't see a good deal, dealers wont be making volume sales, and manufacturers won't see huge profits.

Why the auto market is where it is has nothing to do with the automotive industry, or what they would like to happen.

I've watched that guy compare bikes like the vintage GS series (I have an 82/GS750T).

The manufacturers seem to control the game...hence my looking at incoming Tacomas to the Easton, MD dealership from where I bought my truck.

But what about the ones that people don't wanna buy that the dealership gets "stuck with?"

Seems this type of transaction has been around a while and "us consumers" are the ones salivating for a truck.

NOTE: I take the video with a grain of salt.

No doubt, especially since the market is changing. I put a deposit down on a Pro in August- just got a call that it will build in late November. Went with a dealer that doesn’t charge over MSRP. White with automatic transmission. Can’t wait.

Find a dealer that doesn’t screw people over- you will have to deal w/them after the sale and that matters. Good luck to you.

Nice! White was my second choice. How far are you having to travel to get yours at MSRP?

I’m not so sure. Everybody selling cars and trucks seem pretty happy with the high prices. Car lots full of trucks may never happen again.

Just 10 miles from me- two dealers within 15 minutes of me do not mark up: Olathe Toyota and Molle Toyota in the Kansas City area.

Wow! I’m Texan- where are you getting yours from? As an aside, I was prepared to do the same to get mine. I was blessed to get one near me. Three people were ahead of me me but were looking for the manual transmission. I was first in line for an automatic. I would have preferred a M/T but there aren’t many to be had and I’m totally okay with an A/T.

What are you looking to get?

Solar Octane AT for me. Was referred by a guy on the Tundra forum, so not sure I'm supposed to say where. :spy:

I walked away with the dealer fees. Seems like in FL they love this. Loved the truck but was 4x4 and I’m fine with 4x2.

    MSRP is $44,595
    My price was $41,646
    D&H: $324.24

no other fees, just state tax. Lunar Rock MT with advanced tech, LED, premium, the BBC 6 accessories from port (edge guards, bed lighting, tailgate insert…).
Deals are out there for manuals. Just gotta search. Midwest seems best honestly.
