Camper Top Weather Strip - Mandatory?

    So I recently picked up a camper top for my Taco. I was not going to apply the weather strip to the top of the bed rails as I will be changing back and forth from the camper top to my tonneau cover.

    What negative impacts will I see from not using the top rail weather stripping?

    It will leak, but only a little more than if you use the weather strip/gasket material. Toppers are rarely fully watertight.

    Stick the foam to the underside of the shell instead of the bed rail
