Well my serpentine belt decided to kick the bucket today I just ordered a new one last night from rock auto:mad: a day late and a dollar short so they say.... now the hole front side of my engine is covered in oil. I haven't tracked down where it's coming from yet but man can a guy catch a break.....

When you get the old on off, make sure to check the tensioner and idlers. One of them likely caused the belt issue. I’ll bet one of them is seized up

They all spin freely I think I might have not had something lined up right from when I replaced my power steering pump but those are on the to do list as well.

Uh oh, I suspect it will be the front crank seal.
I hope not, for your sake.

But that’s usually what happens when you throw the belt on the 4.0

It didn't throw the belt but did however loose a couple ribs. Oh boy I bet my luck it was the front crank seal. I guess I better start looking into that.

Just a few ribs is all it takes.
I don’t know why, but the 4.0 likes to suck the belt into the timing cover/crank seal. :goingcrazy:

Might want to take a look.

Then search up on “Crank Bolt Removal” here on the forum.
It’s TIGHT, but there’s a trick where you use a big breaker bar and the starter.
If your truck is a manual, torquing it back is EASY.
If your an Auto, you have to make a tool, or buy one.

If it is in fact the seal, I’ll see if I can dig up the post with the links to all the “info” on it.

I found the thread and yes I'm an automatic. It honestly doesn't look to bad I guess it's gonna have to get done.

I did a front main seal on a 4.0L auto trans T4R recently and I used a 1/2” drive impact and soaked it with PB blaster for a few hrs. Finally the crank bolt broke loose, I figured I was going to have to buy a tool as well. I had the fan and shroud out too though so there was a bit more room.

I’d never buy any belt other than factory Toyota branded belt. Worth the extra money IMHO

I don’t think any belt will last long soaked in oil.

I buy from Bando since they are the OEM manufacturer for the belts.

Compare a Toyota branded Bando to a regular Bando. Not even close to the same
