If you look at the stickys at the top of the third gen forums there is one discussing LED bulbs in a halogen casing. Essentially the results are don't do it. In most cases the light is not better and it creates a lot of glare to oncoming traffic as LED bulbs are not made for the housing of a halogen bulb as is explained in the sticky

lol, no. Just seems to be a 'triggering' topic for people on do's and do not's for LED lighting

you right i should of looked more on site, thanks for pointing that out ill research this further, i am bit dissapointed that tacoma has such bad lights, i been riding alot of forest roads for my work and now with day time going shorter, i am finding myself with need of better lights, not sure i want to do lightbars as i find them odd and not always up on par.

    Thanks.

While I agree with you, are we really concerned about glare to oncoming traffic with your high beams? Seems high beams are used when there is no oncoming traffic or you want to flash the person who cut you off.

Thank you all, i typically dont use high beams for traffic as i find it rude and this is for mostly me upgrading lights that during night riding out in wilderness/forest roads i could use better lights.

A solution is already here and made by Toyota. Upgrade to the OEM LED headlights. They are 1000x better than the stock halogens. I did the upgrade on my truck and it's probably the single best mod yet.

No we are not. However, most of what is in that sticky indicates the LEDs just do not perform as well. Even though they look very bright in the foreground the light does not tend to carry far afield

There's no reason to upgrade the halogen high beams that are built into your halogen projector headlight assemblies. Those are very good performing high beams as they come from the factory and there is not a single LED replacement bulb that will improve the performance. Any LED you put in there will only diminish the effective light. The best overall solution is to upgrade to the factory 2020 LED assemblies with the appropriate harness conversion and properly aim them. The low beam performance is leagues ahead of the projectors with a broader sweep, which is likely what you think you're looking for, brighter and more even light, all provided that they're properly aligned. When that LED headlight is used on high beam, the low beam stays on and the combined hi/lo beam output is extremely effective and very smoothly integrated into what appears to be one continuous light. If you feel that somehow that's not bright enough for you then there are aftermarket driving light solutions that will augment those but you might be surprised at how well they perform.
